Air leak through ears

Post by Sam Roofe » Sun Oct 19, 2014 9:06 pm

I noticed air leaks through ears. Anyone noticed this?
I do not like to use the CPAP machine since I noticed this but still using.

If you have air coming out of one of your ears, you must be a Pumpkin head like me,
or you have a broken eardrum. Better see an ENT soon.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Only way that can happen is perforated ear drum

Leaks? Or a feeling of fullness in the ears on waking? I've noticed the latter on several occasions since starting therapy two months ago. If you're using a full face mask, is it the air leaks NEAR your ears that you refer to? This would point to an ill-fitted mask, not an ENT issue. If you register as a member and fill out your equipment profile, I'm certain someone here can help get to the bottom of things

I guess if there is nothing in the head air could go in the nose and out the ears.

I've written half a dozen posts about my ear problems and CPAP. To find them go to my member profile, click on SEARCH USER POSTS on the right side of the page, then type the term 'earache' (no apostrophes) in the search box in the upper left hand corner. The good news is my ears aren't much of a problem any more after I made some changes. Here's my profile:

memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=62169

You could also try the CPAPtalk general search engine and put in CPAP earaches. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I've had air come out of my tear duct, but not my ear. If your tympanic membranes are intact there is no way air is coming out of your ears. If it actually is, get thee to an ENT, post haste!

Air leaking out thru ones ears is going to end up being an inner-ear earache, that's my experience. If you have some specific information on the topic, LSAT, give it up.

If you have a perforated eardrum, you would know, just by the pain alone.

I had one a month ago. No fun. At all.

Unless you have pain, you probably don't need an ENT for this. What you are experiencing probably can be explained another way.

I would certainly query my Sleep Dr. about it tho. were I you.

I can perforate my ear drum by just blowing my nose, my ear drums are quite scared and very thin between the scar tissue. The CPAP I use would blow holes in my left ear if the pressure is any higher than 13.

If you are feeling pressure in your ears try and get a hold of pressure reducing ear plugs, they are designed for use on planes. I found they really helped me get used to using the machine.
