Could we learn to sleep like this?

I know some humans who go through life with their brains half asleep.

In fact, they work down at the corner DME.
I'm not sure that the implication that they're half awake and functioning is actually evidenced through experience.

I think most other mammals don't have the right angle bend in the airway caused by standing upright and facing forward.

I know that when giving CPR, you tilt the head back to open the airway. I wonder if that would stop most apnea if you could learn to sleep like that?
