You should ask them over the phone exactly which machine they are planing to provide, and exactly what they expect you to PAY.
Most people use a humidifier, I also use a heated hose with my humidifier.
Some people never use either.
Its as personal as weather you like ice cream on your apple pie.

Re:UPDATE Newbie, Health Net, sending me to Apria, please ad
UPDATE:
I just want to say Thank you to everyone who responded to my questions. It was so helpful and eased my frustration. I have an update. So I have a class this Friday to get my equipment.
I called Apria to find out what equipment I was getting and the cost, here's what Apria said:
Machine I am getting: Model #DS660S Rem Star 60 Series Bi Pap with Bi-Flex
co-insurance; $111.71
Is this a good machine? and is the cost good or should i purchase from online and not apria?
Thanks.

The Model 660 is the PR System One 60 Series BiPap Pro with BiFlexBlankenship2426 wrote:Sorry machine is Rem Star Pro Series with Bi-Flex

The PR System One Pro CPAP with CFlex is model 460

Remstar is a generic name used on all the various models and means nothing.
If for sure the machine says BiFlex, which is a form of exhale relief, then it is a BiPap as BiFlex only is available with the BiPaps.
The model 660 is a good machine. Full data. SleepyHead and Encore will work with it. There are no BiPaps now, at least in the System One models, that don't record full data. Now in the older models there were some bricks but not now.
The model 660 is a fixed pressure bilevel machine.
It offers 2 modes of operation...plain ordinary cpap mode and bilevel mode where the bilevel pressures are fixed.

Pugsy,
Thanks for the information. They said I would be getting a Bi-Pap machine.
Also, what is Sleepyhead and Encore? Is this more equipment I will need to purchase? And, how does it work?
Thanks again, Jen.

Check out my signature line for information on SleepyHead and Encore software.
You won't need to buy anything as long as your computer has a slot for SD cards and if it doesn't all you need to buy is a little cheap SD card reader/adapter so you can use one of the USB ports.

Re: Newbie, Health Net, sending me to Apria, please advise
If they said your co-insurance is only $111.71, keep in mind that is likely what they are collecting that day, but probably doesn't cover the full price of the blower. Typical initial costs are to buy outright the humidifier, hose, mask, filters, etc, and to pay the first month's rental of a machine, with you paying your co-insurance percentage of each. The blower portion is most often rent to own for a period of time, such as 10 months (13 for Medicare). That may also not include any deductible you have (and if your machine rental goes over two calendar years, you may have to pay the deductible twice, which is what tips some folks in the direction of buying online).
Ask your insurance what their policy in CPAPs is, then ask the DME to confirm they have the same thing down in their system. That price sounds too low to cover everything, even at a low co-insurance percentage and no deductible, especially for a BiPap (more expensive than CPAP/APAP), and it is more common to do rent to own on the blower (the most expensive component). I was lucky though and my insurance bought it right away, and I didn't have any compliance requirements. Best wishes.
