I HATE THIS MACHINE!
Re: I HATE THIS MACHINE!
As a woman, my vanity took a fatal hit when I was faced with CPAP. After all, I thought, my husband would no longer find me desirable, morning strap marks would be met with snickers from observers, etc. What I did find, much to my surprise, is that none of those fears came true. And like Palerider, I have found (and remind myself frequently) that there are some no-so-obvious benefits to wearing a mask, like fresh air keeping my nose open all night.. When I mask up, I pretend that I am in my own little private oasis. Nobody can bother me there!

I cannot add to The comments that people have responded to you. They have given you a lot of wonderful information to consider.
I believe that it was mentioned in this thread to use a dental appliance. I use a Silent Nite dental appliance as my information below states.
Yet like the whole CPAP experience, it took a bit of time to trust.

Re: I HATE THIS MACHINE!
I love my machine. Really, I do.
Of course, at first I did not like it; however I was determined to make it work, and ... eventually ... I grew comfortable w the xpap and then (most unexpectedly) I just started liking it. No kidding.
Some keys to adapting successfully? Please consider the following...
1. Keep in mind that the alternative is truly icky health, a shorter life, and daytime symptoms ranging from sleepiness to depression with metabolic syndrome laced in between.
2. Your best friends are a sense of humor and an optimistic outlook.
3. Perhaps all new xpap users might do well to read Sir Winston Churchill's absolute best quote. It was a source of strength and perseverance a generation of Britains who faced awful odds during WWII, and they did eventually triumph... Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

Personally, I have never seen anything wrong with expressing anger such as "hate" as long as it doesn't consume you and that it doesn't hurt someone else. Many times, a person needs to be able to do that in order to move on and access viable solutions.Wulfman... wrote:I LOVE my machine(s)!
In fact, I loved my first one so much, I acquired many more like it over the last nine years.
I do NOT "hate" anything about my therapy.
Do I wish I didn't have to use it? Sure. But, that's not the issue.
"Hate" is an UGLY word to be using with regard to a life-extending piece of equipment. It's a contradiction.

I just think this society is so focused on squashing negative emotions and wanting people to never utter a negative thought. Sorry, life doesn't work like that.

Thank you so much!!! I had my mask on for 6 1/2 hours last night! I did wake up many times through the night but stuck with it and I am proud of myself.

You included the above statement in my previous quote which was not part of my original post as an FYI.
Regarding the above statement, where did the OP say that since I don't see anything in the thread about that. She did mention being able to use the machine 6.5 hours but didn't make the other statements you are saying she did.
