Post your favorite mask

Post by SleepingUgly » Tue Mar 02, 2010 11:02 pm

List your favorite nasal pillows, nasal masks, & full face masks. They don't have to have worked perfectly for you, but they had to have done more good than bad. I'm trying to make a best of the best list, but with enough variability that many facial structures can be accommodated.

I can't decide on just one favorite, so I'll give you my top three picks:

AEIOMed Headrest (nasal pillows)
ResMed Mirage Activa LT (nasal)
Fisher & Paykel Opus 360 (nasal pillows)

I've tried on over a dozen masks. These are the only ones that have worked well for me, so far. I do have several more on my "wanna-try" list, though.

I've only tried four masks, but of the one's I've tried, the ZZZ full face is the best. Yes the straps are garbage and tend to skew people's results, but you can replace them with straps from another full-face or a papcap. Fewer nose bridge problems than other masks... The the leak lines are awesome. They should pay me for such glowing reviews of their mask.

I am using the resmed activa lt. It is my first mask and I have found it to be pretty comfortable in my huge experience of 2 nights.
I wish they had used that when i went for my sleep test as the full face mask they used was killing me all night. Left me wondering how hard this was going to be.

I was given the Mirage Quattro full face. I don't really have any probs at all with it. I find it very comfortable to wear with very few leak problems whether I'm sleeping on my back or my side.

Thanks for posting this. I am also trying to figure out if another mask might be better.

I use and like my Quattro FFM. But it seems to be pretty tempermental. At my higher pressures (upto 25cm H2O) the cushion seems to only last about 2 or 3 months. Then rather suddenly I seem to get lots of leaks. But when it works well, it works very well.

My favorite is the Activa LT, which I use with the PapCap Plus. I alternate the nasal pillow with the SoftGel, which uses the same frame. They are both very comfortable; the Activa LT is lighter and floats, the SoftGel is sturdier and is a little heavier on my face. My leaks are usually 0 or very low.

I suppose I could just look at the star ratings on cpap.com, but that would be too easy.

My new favorite is the Swift FX (nasal pillows), followed by old trusty, the Swift LT (nasal pillows). If I could get the Respironics FullLife to seal, I think I'd really like it!

For those that like the Mirage Activa LT, also try the new Soft Gel.......it fits on the same frame, and is very good. I think it seals better than the Activa LT. You can safely buy the same size.......

Opus 360 nasal pillow,
Resmed Softgel nasal (favorite in the sense that does not like like others)
Full face (waiting for next generation, maybe it won't never happen. Mask companies make enough money with current design that they won't bother improve it.)

Willing to try:
Headrest

My Mirage Activa LT is really comfortable but I have problems with mouth leaks that I am currently trying to resolve. I've tried a few FFM's and I'd say yhe Quattro is the most comfortable but I can't get it to seal very well. Still working at it!!!

Pardon me for LMAO.....lmao

You should threaten to hold your breath until and unless they comply. Remember DME's are ALL about compliance....LMAO.

Please don't 'go down', SleepingUgly!

I will cast my vote for the Hybrid FFM. I have used it for almost a year now, and have had good results. Is there a better mask out there for me? There is a strong probability the answer is 'yes'. But the Hybrid works well enough that there is little point spending the time and money to look. Seal life is acceptable (3-4 months) and I am very hard on seals. The best part though is the mask comes with all size parts, and you can trade these parts with others.

The Quattro also works for me, but I had short seal life (3 or 4 weeks) with it. I keep one as a backup mask.
