Nuvigil was approved (I think)

Post by Punchyandtired » Sun Mar 15, 2015 10:46 am

I received a pre recorded call yesterday from express scripts saying my request for a prior authorization has been approved. And the only medicine I have pending is Nuvigil, so it appears I have Nuvigil now.

I believe the dose prescribed is 250 mg.

My pharmacy is only open M-F starting at 9:30, so I'll go pick it up Monday but won't start until Tuesday.

Does anyone have any good experiences with it for EDS. I noticed in a search several people saying it didn't help.

Thanks.

too bad Express Scripts Sucks so bad doing their business they can't even give you proper information for you to actually conclude you are approved for what you think you have been approved for. it could easily be something else that was approved, but you won't know until you either call them, or get the product.

If you are looking for people who have used NUVIGIL, I can give you my personal experience.

I have used NUVIGIL twice.

When I first started CPAP, I was having problems functioning at work. I was very tired and had Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS).

It helped. I used it for awhile and then he CPAP started to work and I was able to dop it.

About a year ago, I had a pituitary tumor and have been fighting both fatigue and sleep problems ever since. I am back on nuvigil now. It allows me to function for most of the day. Without it, I can not function at all.

it was recently reformulated as NUVIGIL because the patent was running out on he old version Provigil...... (sorry I am being petty)

If you search for threads on Provigil, you will find more threads on it in this forum.

I did not want to try it, because I worked in a job and did not want to appear to be high. It does NOT make you high. You simply are simply more awake.

I hope that this helps.

If you are having problems staying awake at work, then certainly try it.

You need to call the pill pushers and ask to speak to the pharmacist.
It is the only way you can confirm what they intend to send you,
and the only way you can refuse shipment before it is too late.

Good idea to search "provigil".

Express scripts for me works as the information unit of blue cross I guess. I go to pharmacy of my choice, they find out i need a PA, they fax doctor. Doctor gives reasons and faxes back to pharmacy. Pharmacy faxes to blue cross. I get a notification from express scripts if it has been approved or not. If so, i go pick up script from pharmacy.

I will call the pharmacy tomorrow before I go.

I don't either but started doing that with the Norvasc I am on before I gently reminded myself to cease and desist. So far, so good.

Regarding the Nuvigil, my sleep doctor gave me some samples to see if it would improve my wakefulness during the day which didn't happen. This was before I was diagnosed with high blood pressure which I understand would prevent me from taking these type of medications. So on that note, I am glad it didn't work.

YESSSSSSSS!

The Nuvigil was approved for a year. The pharmacy has it on order and it should be in some time today.

Took first dose 3 hours ago. (250 mg). I feel more awake but it doesn't seem to have that get up and go feeling addedall had. Like I'm not cleaning my house like a mad woman. (Bummer).

I do feel like the brain fog is lifted-- that I can think and reason things out, problem solve etc.
