I've had both, and prefer the Medigap approach. In particular, the "dental" coverage in the expensive Medicare Advantage plan that I had offered one low-budget dentist for our whole county (200,000+ population). That one was the only Medicare Advantage plan that the clinic that I've been going to for years was taking at the time. On the other hand, they're very happy with Medicare plus Medigap. You do have to kind of piece together your coverage in any case, drugs, dental, and vision aren't covered under Medicare plus Medigap. It's interesting that health insurance aimed at the elderly is so complicated, but it is working for a lot of people none the less. I have a pretty cheap drug plan, and am on my wife's employer dental and vision coverage (for the moment *smile*).

There is an Apria office in Louisville, Kentucky. I fight with them regularly about my brother-in-law's oxygen. They service Southern Indiana too which is why I have to put up with them.

I encourage anyone who likes a good fight on a regular basis to do business with them. However, if you prefer dealing with nice people & rational company policies, avoid them like the plague.

I have a problem with difficult people.
Without warning, I may switch into fight mode, embarrassing myself,
and generally making things more complicated than they need to be.
Situations like this are challenging to back out of,
which I must do, as I am lousy at diposing of bodies.

I find that comforting, in a strange way

Thank you all.
This was exactly the kind of information I was looking for.
As for Crapria, I have been dealing with them for over a year now and I know first hand how wonderful they are.
My current doctor who I like is covered by Humana also, so no change required. He has been great on providing referrals when I ask, but his medical group is not always as cooperative.
I have read some poor reviews through Google, but you are a bit reassuring.
