OT: Remedy for cracked skin

Post by idamtnboy » Mon Feb 24, 2014 3:00 pm

For several winters I've had to contend with the skin at the end of my fingers getting dry and cracking. I've always before used a salve and bandaid to cover the crack and help it heal, but keeping a bandaid on the end of a finger is problematic. A couple of days ago I was browsing the bandaid display at the local pharmacy when I see this stuff call 3M Nexcare Skin Crack Care. I bought it and tried it out. Wonderful stuff. It's in a bottle similar to, and looks like, finger nail polish. No more messing with bandaids. Wish I would have had this years ago.

Just thought I'd post this little bit of info in case it might help someone!

Thanks.

Almost sounds like this bottle of glue like stuff we used to have about 50 years ago, called: NuSkin to cover small wounds in place of an anti-septic AND a band-aid.

Wonder what happened to that stuff? I love it. Probably gave mice cancer if they made them drink a pint a day.

Liquid bandage, liquid skin, New Skin; bowlers have used it for years because you can't release the ball
if you're wearing a hunk of tape. It smelled like acetone, probably an early surgical super glue.

They still make NuSkin & I love it. I think I got at either Rite Aid or Walgreens recently. A bottle lasts a long time.

Zim's Crack Crème works well for me. I am outdoors a lot in the winter and get my hands wet out in the swamps. Hard on the hands. Those little cracks that open at the fingertips near the corner of the nail can be painful.

O'Keeffe's Working Hands is helping me prevent the cracks (as long as I remember to put it on).

I use super glue to heal the cracks and eliminate the pain.
Then use a good lotion to keep from cracking again.
