Sweating after awakening

Post by Pesser » Sat Jan 11, 2014 5:14 pm

I am a new user! I had about 5 events per hour (down to 1 with treatment). I want to know if anyone, before treatment, has ever experienced heavy sweating after awakening during the night. I am wondering if this isn’t a “side-effect” of sleep apnea. Since using my new remstar (Philips) I have not had any sweating events.

It's normally a symptom of apnea and should go away when on Cpap. If it doesn't, I'd definitely ask the doctor about it (if Cpap is otherwise going well and your numbers are good) because it could be caused by other things.

Sweating at nights, if the bedroom temp is at or below 72 F = Diabetes
It happens to me while CPAPing about 10% of the time.
I Just change T shirts and go back to sleep.

Waking up suddenly after suffering from a 20 to 30 second apnea can cause the typical nervous symptom reactions like your heart racking, sweating, and a feeling of doom.

Yes, sweating is a common side effect of sleep apnea.

You haven't specified your gender but if you're a woman of a certain age, that goes with the territory too.

Night sweats and chills definitely go with OSA. Mine disappeared from my first night with CPAP. It works!

I'd say your treatment may not be correct, if you have events the adrenaline causes overheating. Proper apnea control should lessen it.

That is why you need to collect full data and use the software to see what's really going on at that time. Jim

I reread your post, you were whatifn about before treatment, without treatment YES!

Odd thing is; that I haven't had the sweating since I started treatment with CPAP.

By correctly stopping apnea events, you body isn't stressed (dying), as much, less adrenaline is released. RESULT, less sweating and excessive kidney function, win-win! Jim
