Opinion on Flow Limitations Please, Dr. Pugsy &Phy Assists

Post by StuUnderPressure » Sun Jun 23, 2013 9:12 am

I do NOT use EPR & my Auto Pressure is 12 - 18
Because of back problems (bad discs at L-4 & L-5), I have to sleep in a recliner.

Although 3 Apneas were recorded this night (a 3rd one was cut off on the right), I usually have NO Apneas, & ONLY Hypopneas.

My excess leak is almost always -0- (controlled by a chinstrap).

The Auto Pressure of 13 - 20 shown in my profile is for another S9 AutoSet that I use when sleeping in bed (usually only 1 or 2 hours in the early morning hours, just before I get up for the day).

If you canNOT see the 4 images below, just use the 4 links at the bottom of this post.

The image isn't viewable for me... Looks like a formatting issue.

I can see the image by clicking on the link and next on the image to enlarge it. To increase the treatment of the FL
I would raise the min pressure by 1 cm, and check the results. Also, if you use any EPR then reduce it to zero. The idea is to raise the exhaling pressure (EPAP) in your S9 Autost in APAP mode.

I would use another image hosting website such as http://www.photobucket.com or http://www.ImageShack.com and from there get a link to post here as: .

So I would raise the 12 cm to 13 cm. If the L-4/L-5 don't improve with conservative treatment I would consider discectomy or laminectomy but without fusion.

I finally got the report to show up in my original post (using my Dropbox account).

Raising the minimum pressure slowly was something I was thinking of doing anyway - Figured it can't hurt.

After seeing others I know have unsuccessful back & neck surgeries (some of them multiple times), I decided long ago that back surgery was just not successful enough for "ME" to have it done. And those people did NOT have any type of fusion done.

Not sure if others are having the same problem, but the 3 images are not showing only their place markers. I checked 3 different browsers (Opera, Android & Orweb).

"I" can see them using Internet Explorer 8 on an OLD Windows XP Professional Desktop computer.

I know this is an old thread, but found it interesting because it basically says that to treat Flow Limitations, you really need a Bi-Level machine.

To date, I have slowly changed my lower Auto pressure from 12 to 17 & even changed my higher Auto pressure to 20 with NO effect at all on my really bad Flow Limitations.

No matter what my lower Auto pressure is, the bad Flow Limitations remain the same.
