Getting tired again after 3 months

Post by iglehart » Mon Aug 19, 2013 7:53 am

So about 3 or 4 months ago I was diagnosed and got a machine and mask. Felt great for 2-3 months now I am using the mask everynight and starting to feel tied again.
I have a resmed machine that allows me to download detailed data to my laptop and my number has never been above 4.7 (AHI).

Any clue whats going on? I do have only the nose mask and my mouth is sometime dry in the morning, so I am guessing maybe breathing through my mouth?
Can this cause tiredness? Anyway I have an appointment Thursday to get a full face mask to see if this solves the problem.
I wanted to go in with some thoughts to as what might be the problem.

Todd

If you have the software what do your leak line graphs look like? Do you spend much time over 24 L/min? That's where ResMed says that leaks can start impacting therapy effectiveness.

Also how many hours of sleep are you averaging? Are those hours fragmented (wake up often)?
Any change in meds?

If your mouth's open, all the Cpap air can go out that way before going down into your airway... so you're doing a smart thing next week.

It's not uncommon to feel an improvement for a while because things are at least better once on CPAP, but if the therapy is not optimized, better is just not good enough over the long term. Once you give a little more detail you will get some targeted suggestions. Using data to assure your treatment is therapeutic is generally the first step in troubleshooting. A few common issues can be ruled out pretty quickly, and if a problem remains, it's a process of elimination, but well worth the effort. Good luck.

So no change in meds as I do not take any.
Sleep pattern most night is a full 7-8 hours. Once to twice a week I get woken up by kids, but not regularly.
One this is I am under alot of stress right now and I know stress has a big effect on you, so that is another variable.

I will check my data tonight after the kids are in bed.

So beside leakage what else should I look at?

My ahi is always low, if I am breathing through the mouth will the cpap pick up leakage or increaes AHI?

So for pressure I have a machine that allows for range. I was prescipbed 7-9.
In my sleep study pressures of 4-9 were effective, above 9 was too high.
