My CPAP fell and won't even power on now....HELP!!!

Post by jcvishappy » Sun Jun 02, 2013 4:28 pm

I have had my CPAP for a few years and it just fell off the dresser and now it won't even turn on!! I lost my health insurance a while back and have no idea who to turn to for help.
I am in very bad need of my machine and am finding I absolutely CANNOT sleep without it so please does anybody have any advice PLEASE???
I live in San Francisco and was trying to look for any CPAP repair shops that I could afford (only work part time) or has anyone ever taken theirs apart and attempted to fix it themselves??
I really sincerely appreciate any help at all.

If it is several years old, it may cost more to fix than it's worth. Have you checked your local Craigslist? Often there are really good opportunities if you know what you are looking for.

Tell us the make and model of your machine.

Was there water in the humidifier? See if you can pour any water out of the blower unit.

Have you tried unplugging the power from the wall and from the back of the machine. Then plug it all back in and try to poet on the unit?

Does the machine light up or beep? Any evidence it is getting power? Did any water spill inside the inside?

Check out http://www.acbio.com/cpaprepair.htm. Send a private message to forum member "accurate". He works there and may be able to help you.

Also take a few minutes and add your equipment to your profile so we know what you have.

Hello jcvishappy,

Sorry to hear about your equipment.

You say your equipment is a "few years" old. It may in fact still be under warranty, so you might consider calling your provider and see if that's the case.

If that doesn't pan out, occasionally providers receive equipment "donated" back to them from people who aren't able to tolerate therapy or simply want others to have use of equipment that was recently replaced. I would suggest calling a few local DME companies to see if they have any equipment that they are wanting to get rid of. Older rental units are practically given away. Another suggestion would be to call some local sleep labs and doctor's to see if they have had any equipment donated.

Hope that helps, good luck!

If there was water in the humidifier you'll have to let the whole thing dry out for a few days and then try it again... it won't start up if the insides got wet.
