New unit or did I get ripped off?

Post by iglehart » Fri May 24, 2013 2:48 pm

Question, how do I check the firmware level? I just got my AutoSet today and I see a number in the settings
SX474-0602. Is the last 4 digits the ones you guys are referring to? If so why would a brand new unit have such outdated firmware?
Should I call and demand a newer unit.

Also when I got the unit it said run hours 233.7. I know in the factory they probably do some testing but 233 hours?
I think maybe I got a used unit?

Any thoughts?

you got a used machine for sure. check with your insurance to see if they buy used machines. if they do, you can't do much.

I am in talks with my online retailer. I will update with detail and how my experience went after I give them time to set things right.
I do not want to be to hard on them until I give them a chance to fix the issue.
My purchase online regardless of what my insurance company allows was for a new machine.
That is what the site said, so we will see.

The machines with the internal software Version SX474-0602 probably were manufactured approximately March - June 2011 - so it was manufactured approximately 2 years ago.

If it had 233.7 "Run Hours" on it, it is definitely a used machine.

Any factory testing does not show up as "Run Hours".

Even if the DME spent some time setting it up & if they had it turned on for any reasons during that set up (highly unlikely), you still would be looking at only a fraction of 1 Hour (i.e. only a few minutes).

If it were "me", I would demand that it be exchanged for a machine with zero "Run Hours".

And since we now know that the internal software version is up to 0907, I would also demand that the machine they give you in exchange have that updated internal software of SX474-0907.

What online site did you buy it from?

Wow, this is a big screw up. I hope they do the right thing and send you a new unit (overnight) and issue a call tag for the return.

May I ask, did this vendor use PayPal as a checkout?

So I used a credit card for purchase. I called and I was told I would receive a call back.

Once they return my call and offer a solution I will post the name of the vendor. I think it only fair to allow they to fix the situation first.

I am thinking I should use it tonight but don't want to void any return policy. The site is vague on this, I will call back again tonight and ask about that policy.

Sadly, some poor sap will get your 'new' machine after you return it. Probably somebody who's never heard of CPAPtalk Such is life.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

If you don't receive an immediate solution, there is always the opportunity of calling the credit card company & telling them you did not receive what you purchased. They will charge back the amount to the online vendor. That should convince them that you do mean business.

Before you do this though, remember that such an action will definitely sour your relationship with that vendor. Do it only as your last resort.

NO call back yet. I sent an email. I will give it another hour or 2 then call again. I want some resolution tonight so I can receive another machine in a day or 2.

So still not call back, I don't mind posting now.

I used 1800cpap.com

I forgot to look up reviews for companies before ordering, this was my mistake.

They actually have excellent rating http://www.resellerratings.com/search/1800cpap

I just ordered a spare wisp nasal cushion yesterday from. First time doing businesd with them. If my wisp comes in a used sandwich baggy They did ship it same day.

Funn thing is, at the same time I ordered some other supplies from my trusty vendor... haven't heard spit from them.

Good luck with your ordeal. Keep is posted.

Just call your credit card company and stop payment, guaranteed you'll hear from them.
