My new oxmiter- are these nmbers good?

Post by imfletch » Wed Apr 10, 2013 7:34 am

Spent last night with my fancy schmancy new recording oximeter. Uploaded to my computer this morning. I THINK the numbers are good, but as this is my first time with such stuff, I'm not sure.
O2 levels averaged 95.5% for the eight-hour night. Levels were between 93 and 98 percent for 98-percent of night.
Levels fell below 88-percent eight times for a total time below 88 of two minutes and 32 seconds. Lowest O2 point was 82 for 11 seconds.
Are these numbers good?

Yeah, those numbers are pretty darn good.
If you look at the actual report and look for the times where you see a sharp drop...goes down quickly and back up quickly and zoom in on those drops you likely will see a gray line which means the sensor lost contact...so movement artifact and thus we would discount those drops.

In real life we don't see drops in the oxygen levels that quickly and we don't see increases quickly either.
Hold your breath while wearing the pulse ox...hold it for as long as you can and you will see that the drop in oxygen levels is gradual and slow. You will likely have to give up holding your breath long before it goes very low at all.

Who make your Oximeter: can you send a link?

I would like to know how it attaches to your finger.

If your average was 95.5% that seems pretty good.

Jim

Got a report? Something like this below.

You can use imageshack to host the file.

Cosmo,
That is EXACTLY what my report looks like. The meter came with the software.

Jimster,
The unit "says" it is normally $390, but I paid $82. Here is the link
