Mask Mod for Zeo

Post by Always tired » Tue Jan 29, 2013 2:15 pm

The following is a modification of a PR TrueBlue nasal mask for a more comfortable fit with a Zeo. Thanks to Xena and Jay A. for their input.

I tried the Zeo under and above my mask forehead support with no success. In both cases when I adjusted my mask the Zeo would move--not good.

First remove the gel support from the mask and cut a piece of material, about 3” x 3/4” (folded to required thickness) and put in place of the gel. When the Zeo is held against the shim material it should ride above the 4 plastic clips. Remove the material and secure in place with some double sided tape. A cut down Pad-A-Cheek will add more padding if required.

Put the Zeo headband on and then your mask, the Zeo does not have to be very tight as the mask forehead support puts pressure on the Zeo. Wiggle your mask around and the forehead support should now slide on the Zeo and the Zeo should not move.

Don’t know if this will work with other masks, but it’s worth a try.

Nice job.

I remember the good old days when modifying pimped out masks was lots of fun.

I finally found one that fit me perfect right out of the box and so no more fun for me.

I'm going to have to try that too.
--with my P/R Comfortgel FullFace, the forehead pad is a bit different, probably still worth a shot.
I wonder if I'll have to cut any hard plastic.

Nice. I'm using the Quattro FFM and finding the Zeo doesn't ride well above or behind the forehead support. Maybe I will try taping it directly onto the forehead support and see what happens! It's an unpadded support, unfortunately, so I can't replace padding with Zeo like you did here. But it could work.

Here's 3 ideas for the quottro. Number 2 isn't really shown in the photo, but is similar to A.T.'s configuration.

1. Wear it above the forehead support between the support and hairline. Works best for us with receeding hairlines. This is the easiest way.

2. Remove the support soft pad. Remove the headband from the Zeo transmitter/sensor. Place the transmitter/sensor between the top straps of the headgear where the support would normally attach, put it on and adjust for fit. Take the headgear off, leave the sensor in place and attach the support without the pad to the top straps of the headgear using the slits in the support. The mask support will ride on top of the transmitter. Put the headgear and mask on, adjust tension with dial. Or, as above, except leave the Zeo headband and transmitter intact and wear the mask headgear over.

3. Completely remove the forehead support, pad, and dial. Remove the sensor headband. Thread the sensor headband thru the top of the mask, wrap to leave about 6" of strap to each side with the velcro tabs facing in toward the head. Place the transmitter/sensor in the headgear and adjust as above. Put the headgear on and attach the top of the mask to the headgear with the velcro tabs of the Zeo headband. Adjust the tension by adjusting where the headband attaches.
