Low Leak level and 8+hrs of sleep. I'm still feeling groggy?

Post by cubism_dream » Mon Nov 26, 2012 11:11 am

Hi everyone,

I've been having air leak issues with my nasal pillows, but I think I've got it under control. However, despite having a low leak level and 8+hrs of sleep a night, I've been waking up groggy and unrefreshed for the past few days. I have attached last night's data. Note that even though it says the sleep duration is about 9 hrs, I put on my mask while still awake, for about 30-60 mins before falling asleep.

Does this have anything to do with the Clear Airway Apneas that I've been having? Also, I usually sleep on my side, but I've noticed that I'm on my back throughout the night and when I wake up. Is that causing my CAs and grogginess?

Edit: I'd also like to ask, how often do you change your flow generator (FG) air filter, and how much does this affect the quality of sleep? The filter obviously improves the quality of air going into the FG, but what is the correlation between filter change frequency and quality of sleep?

You've been on CPAP for about a year. So it only worked for the first few weeks, and since then you feel groggy every day?

Hi cubism_dream!

Please send us some closeups of some of the clear airway events. Simply drag across a little area starting a bit before the event and continuing to a little after the event. To "reset" simply drag across the top graph which always shows what area of the night is displayed.

Thanks!

Todzo

S9 filters should be changed every 6 months or when they become dirty.

I find I feel better if I increase my minimum pressure, even though my AHI doesn't get better. If you do that, do it slowly, and watch your level of CA, because more pressure might make CA worse.

Thanks for the responses. Todzo, is Flow Rate the right graph to highlight? I'm not sure which graph to highlight.

Flow rate is the one you want to look at.
