I'm discouraged today. I developed a little painful bump on the bridge of my nose caused from the mask the first night. The mask is size large I was told. I used the machine maybe 4 hours last night and it sounds wimpy but it was just too painful on my nose to use. No way I could fall asleep. I took the machine off and slept three more hours without it. Its Saturday and I doubt the Apria place is open to try another mask out. Any ideas? Maybe a pad of some sort on my nose. I just couldn't get any type of good seal on my face last night fiddling with the straps and the mask on my nose. I'm frustrated and feel more groggy than yesterday. I suppose I have to pay my dues like most people here until I find something that works for me.
On a positive note I used the Biotene mouth wash this forum suggested and it cured the severe dry mouth. Another problem is my bedroom is cold at night and the humidifier seems to get really cold at around 2 am. I think I have the heated humidifier but it certainly doesn't feel like it.
Hope you got better rest than me last night.
second night, bump on nose
Re: second night, bump on nose
Try a bandaid on the bridge of your nose, or a piece of moleskin on the mask where it hits your nose (don't put the moleskin on you nose). You have got to get this under control. There are liners and pads you can buy to cushion the area. Good luck

Emergency Mask liner:
find on old well washed t-shirt or cotton under wear. Lay mask on top. Draw a line inch out side of mask. Cut it out (it looks like a large triangle) With point at top fold sideways in half. Cut a small triangle in the middle. Lay on mask, bend over and try it on. Adjust little triangle until nose and mouth fit comfortably. Make a template out of paper for future use.
The quatro should not be too tight. It works like a hydrofoil - its skirts need to inflate. If it is hurting then it is on too tight.

The PR S1 humidifier has a humidity sensor and doesn't need to heat up if the bedroom already has a bit of humidity in the air despite being colder. The humidifier has 2 modes of operation. The default mode is the new way using the humidity sensors. If you have it already set at Max and things are too cold then you could switch over to the old method. The other mode is "Classic" mode which uses more heat (and thus more water). You do this from within the clinical setup menu on your machine.
So you can increase the setting in the current default mode (if you have some left) or change over to the Classic mode which will supply more heat. BTW more heat equals more humidity and in a cold bedroom will equal more chance of rain out.
Should rain out be a problem...there are heated hoses and/or hose cozies to help limit rain out. I prefer lots of humidity...cold bedroom..so I use a heated hose.
