Calculate Your Life Expectancy (and Virtual Age)

Post by VVV » Wed Aug 03, 2011 2:03 pm

Hey, I need to run through this myself when there is time available - http://www.peterrussell.com/Odds/VirtualAge.php

They need to add sleep apnea, treated or untreated, AHI.

If you do the exercise let us know what you think of the tool.

I like the Wii Fit age better. I can usually knock 20 years off my age with that.

I don't know, I like this program
This was after putting down I was morbidly obese.

As long as I don't have to deal with Virtual Acne or go to Virtual High School

I am 60 years old. My virtual age is 45.6 and life expectancy is 92.4.

Hey, I'll take that and run with it!

I've only got 8600 days left. I hope someone pulls the plug before then.

I'm confused by the "Average-Stocky-Bald and Stocky" slider. I'm stocky and not bald, but what are the settings between "Stocky" and "Bald and Stocky" for? What if you are bald and lightly built?

Hmmm, That test is a well thought out & interesting one to do. Worth hanging onto that link

Same here. They should add screens for OSA and air pollution.

Didn't agree with what they thought of as a healthy diet. It didn't work for me.

Real age: 55
Virtual age: 39.5
Life Expectancy: 92.5
13,700 more days

I loose 2000 days for not being in great shape.

My biological age: 46
My virtual age: 33.5
My live expectancy: 87.5

It looks like I'll have 2.5 years as a bag lady. According to TIAA-CREF I'm SOL at 85 unless I invest. Hopefully another 35+ years of worrying about it will shave off those extra few years. Unless I get dementia, first, and don't know what's going on, anyway.

All this is assuming I don't get hit by a bus.

In a bit of a mood, this morning. I best crank the Stones and get dancing.

This calculator looks better, plus it explains what you can do to live longer: http://calculator.livingto100.com/calculator
Epworth Sleepiness Scale: 14
Diagnostic study: overall AHI: 0.2 events/hour; overall RDI: 45 events/hour
Titration study: AHI: 6.1; RDI: 27; CPAP pressures: 5-8cm

Not-tired behind my eyes and with a clear, cool head!

My biological age: 40
My virtual age: 33.8
My live expectancy: 81.2

That was kinda cool!

With honest answers about what's going on now:

Actual age: 53
Virtual age: 42.4
Life Expectancy: 87.6
Expect to live another 12,600 days

Things that brought it down for me:
  • Insomnia (sleep less than 6 hours): -1 year from "sleep 6 hours" and -2 years from "sleep between 8 and 9 hours." I'll never sleep 8--9 hours, but maybe next year I'll be sleeping 6 hours every night.
  • Stress: Mine is "High": And that -1 year from "mild" and -2 years from No Stress
  • Skipping lunch on most days hurts: -1 year compared to "eat three meals"
  • Having two grandparents die of heart disease (in their early 70s) didn't help, and my mother dying very young (of lung cancer caused by life long smoking) didn't help either: -2.2 years for "bad ancestry"
As for the OSA, I left the "lung/breathing problems" selector at "Some" since the ones that they listed, I've never had, but I felt that "none" was not the right choice with the OSA. However, selecting Some instead of None, cost me another year.

So: If I beat the insomnia monster, remember to eat (a healthy) lunch every day, and deal with that stress level, I'd gain 3--5 more years!
