Leaks under control & sealed, but mask whistles?

Post by plr66 » Sat Mar 19, 2011 11:28 am

Sorry if this suggestion has ever been posted previously...
I just discovered that one of the 4-5 exhalation vent holes on one of my masks was not punched out completely in manufacturing. Careful use of a pin or needle to get the little silicone flap out of there for a clean vent hole did the trick.
DeVilbiss IntelliPap Std Plus with Smartflex; Transcend miniCPAP & Everest2 w/humidifier & batt for travel. UltraMirage FFM; PadACheeks; PaPillow. Using straight CPAP at 13.0/passover humidifier. AHI consistently < 1.5. Began CPAP 9/4/08.

Sometimes just the simplest of things.

Got an email this morning from someone having trouble with mask feeling suffocated when first masking up, to the point couldn't use it. Had been doing well. We wondered about ramp or whatever. Scratched our virtual heads. Second night same thing, elected to get up and investigate and found exhale vent was clogged up....little toothbrush cleaning and low and behold, no more suffocation feeling..

We had the same thing happen on one of our UMFF, there was a little "fuzz" in one of the holes and the mask made a racket until I discovered it.
