It seems many of you are seeing this product as a replacement for the machine currently sitting on your nightstand.
It is not!!!
Repeating Somnetics post earlier in this thread:
Somnetics wrote:It should be noted that Transcend is designed to be a second CPAP for travel or as a backup in case of a power outage. At this time, it is a better fit for patients who use a nasal seal, are comfortable wearing a hat, don’t wear or can become accustomed to not wearing a chin strap, and don’t require C-flex, ERP or Auto features. Pricing will be competitive to other CPAP-humidifier combinations on the market. Beginning January 21 more pricing details will be available from online dealers.

I would love to try one out for naps and traveling. Budget is my problem currently.

Nope. That's not it at all. I know it's a "TRAVEL" machine, or like you said, for naps. But personally I don't think I could make it through a night with it at all, home or away. It's not an option now that I'm on BiPAP anyway. But even in my pre-BiPAP days, I just can't imagine being able to use it for any length of time.

To address some of the concerns brought up here...Transcend’s power cord plugs into the back of the device and goes up and away from your head so you won’t get tangled up in the cord. Regarding the concern about electromagnetic radio frequency emissions, Transcend was tested and met all FDA standards in this area and was found safe for everyday use. The advanced blower technology used in the device eliminates vibration and minimizes heat generation. A memory foam pad cushions the device on your head. Once you lie back, you won’t feel any weight and the headgear holds it stable so the device moves when you move. Transcend’s sound level has been rated at 31.4 dB, which is comparable to other popular CPAPs.
Somnetics, LLC, is the maker of Transcend.

Good for you Somnetics for making new and inventive products available.
I'm happy to no longer be tethered to the wall when talking on the phone.
Someday I suspect C-pap machines to be much smaller than they are now.
And a lot handier.
Who would have believed 20 years ago we would be sleeping like we are now?
Wasn't the first machine a vacuum cleaner on reverse or something like that?

What I don't get is this. Why don't they give an option of a longer hose so you can put the thing near you rather than on your head? The need for a battery-powered machine with a long life is apparent; there is one at cpap.com. But, no heated humidifier.
Just don't get why they don't offer a hose option so you can make a choice.

I can see going bald wearing this on my head. For those already bald maybe it could be held on with suction cups and lose the headgear ?

The "HME" (the device that replaces our humidifier) has to be replaced about once a week. They say in the FAQ's that this part of the device is NOT covered by insurance. I wonder how expensive it is to purchase the replacement "HME"?

One of the "other" sites that sells the Transcend has the HME for sale for about $5. Not bad for once or twice, but if you used it all the time, that adds up to about $260 a year.

$260? So boys, you still think the Transcend is to replace the machine on the nightstand and you do not understand that it is for travel and sleep away from your bedroom.

So, just because I make a comment about what the price would be, that makes you think that I would use this as a regular, every day(night) machine?
I was just stating a fact, since someone had asked what the replacement cost was for the HME. First I said it wouldn't be bad for once or twice.
THEN gave the price
IF you were to use it all the time for a year.
You don't seem to understand that I would NOT be using this machine in the first place. I was just giving information about it.
It is a TRAVEL machine. I get that. But that doesn't mean some people won't want to use it as a regular (nightly) machine.
