Dori, maybe some V8? It's loaded with nutrients. Quite yummy heated like a soup. If Mike's has to eat low-sodium, try the low-sodium V8 with a squeeze of lime (lime mimics the taste of salt without the sodium). Wishing the best for both of you!

Muse, You're on the ball! One of the suggestions the Dr made was some Gatorade or V8, he said regular now because he wants to increase his sodium level but normally we have low-sodium which we drink occasionally and like. He seems much more awake tonight. Good tip!

Surgeon liked the way the wound looked but was concerned with the sleepiness he saw, had the nurse take his BP on both arms and there was a distinct difference in the pressures, so he referred us back to our primary who thinks he was overmedicated in the hospital and he'll get better. He's also concerned because Mike is urinating 5x/night since he's home(of course that's also adding to his daytime sleepiness) and is not sure if it's just all the IV fluids still being eliminated or what so he wants him to see his Urologist(he does have a moderately enlarged prostate) who we dislike and havent' seen in a few years, so he referred us to a new one, so another "specialist" to see! Surgeon was also "disturbed" that we're not routinely following up with our pulmonologist(sleep Dr??) "Sleep apnea is serious business and you shouldn't be fooling around with the machine yourself"!! I was too tired to argue the point so I just nodded OK. Right now we're waiting for another big snow storm and don't know if the Visiting Nurse will get here tomorrow so I'm in charge of wound care. Lovely! I'm trying to keep calm and take care of one thing at a time but it's pretty non-stop all day and night. Now here's the kicker!! The last 2 nights since he's home even with all the potty breaks his AI was 0.3 and last night was 0.0(first time in over 2yrs), sleeping over 9hrs each night.

I just saw the weather forecast for the Northeast part of the country. Anywhere from 8 inches to 2 feet depending on where you live. I hope you have some kind of emergency power backup. Hang in there, we are all thinking about ya.

Oh Dori, how stressful this be for you and Mike! Take care of yourself or you won't be able to take care of Mike.

Ya da ya da ya da...ah well, he doesn't know you Dori like we do! You could teach him a thing or two about apnea

...Now here's the kicker!! The last 2 nights since he's home even with all the potty breaks his AI was 0.3 and last night was 0.0(first time in over 2yrs), sleeping over 9hrs each night.
Maybe Mike's in less pain or less aware of pain? Now that my shoulder is not bothering me all the time, my AHI is mostly back to the level it was before I fell last summer.
Dori, take care with this storm, it's huge and nasty! If it meets up with the storm coming down from Canada, it's gonna get pretty ugly. Stock up on essential foods and meds...got power backup for Mike's APAP? If no power backup, it might be time to make arrangements.

Dori, What can I say that the others have not said? You both are in my heart and in my prayers. Take care and God bless you both.

Thanks for all the good thoughts coming our way, maybe that's why today was a better day, he slept better with less bathroom breaks and he's more awake today, appetite returning, only problem is high BP. The nurse couldn't get here today because of the snow storm so I was on my own with wound care and BP monitoring. I called the Dr today when his BP was 180/60 as it was last night, but he doesn't trust my machine. He said to wait until the nurse takes it tomorrow morning and call him if it's still high. Best of all, I was able to take a 20minute nap this afternoon and I feel better too. Thank you all for being there for me, it means the world.

Thanks for the invitation. The waltz is for oldtimers but we loved all the latin dances! Cha-cha anyone?
