My CPAP adventure begins ....
My CPAP adventure begins ....
The appointment with the RT at the DME went real well today: Had a very hard time choosing between the System One REMstar Auto and the S9 Auto. The S9 finally won out because it was a smidge quieter and the hum was at a pitch that bothered me less. Mask wound up being the Sift FX with small pillows. But the Opus 360 Nasal Pillow was a very close runner up.
Wish me luck as I start this adventure ...

The S9 is a nice machine. Today I swapped my initial S8 Escape II for the S9 Elite, in order to obtain full data capability and the use of a generic SD card. You will have the same benefits in the S9 Auto, which is a step up from my S9 Elite. Best of luck!

Welcome rubysue. Sounds like you have made a very good beginning. Please consider getting the software so you can see the details on all your data. People post their data and graphs so that more experienced members can give suggestions on how to get more benefit out of therapy.
I also use the S9 with Swift FX headgear, but am trying out my husbands spare Opus 360. Just may switch to that as I get dry eyes with the Swift every night. Not good for the eyes at all. The Swift FX exhaust port angles the air downward whereas the Opus port puts the air straight out from the face. When laying on my side the air from the Swift hits the pillow and/or comforter and 'spashes' back into my face. The Opus does this less.
What ever you do please keep reading here. This forum is such a wonderful group of people who care and will cheer you on to success. Best wishes and hope all goes well tonight. Please let us know.

Already have the link for the download from Uncle_Bob and I intend to install it soon as my hubby gets up one of our older, unused PCs set up just so that I can see all the details of the data. Can't do it on this machine since it's a Mac. [I loathe PCs as a general rule and have successfully avoided them in my career as a math prof by using a variety of Unix, Linux and Mac computers.]Please consider getting the software so you can see the details on all your data. You can run Windows and PC software on a Mac by using Boot Camp. In fact, that is how I will use ResScan tomorrow morning, after I use my S9 for the first time tonight.

Being both a math person and a UNIX bigot, I know what you mean about not wanting to use a PC. As a BTW, you can run ResScan (the software for the S9) on a Macintosh. The trick is using a virtualization software like Parallels. I have been able to run both ResScan and Encore Viewer (the software for Resprionics machines) under Parallels. I have not been able to import data from the 50E oximeter, however. While I was not too anxious to pollute my Mac with Windows, Parallels is probably the coolest piece of software that I have ever used, plus it lets me run Linux VMs on my Mac.
Welcome to the world of CPAP. Please post some reports once you get the software working. I have no clue what it all means medically, but I sure do like looking at numbers and graphs.

VMware is another option to run Windows and PC software on a Mac.

Re: My CPAP adventure begins ....
First,
Thanks for all the Mac-friendly ideas. I will look into them , but I'm still going to try to hold hubby to his promise to get one of our "dust collecting" PCs that's not doing anything set back up and running so that I can use that for my sleep data just in case I have trouble with the Mac ideas.
Second,
Any ideas if there's a restriction on how many times I can download the ResMed software from the link provided by Uncle_Bob?

Re: My CPAP adventure begins ....
I just got my S9 Auto the other day and so far I love it... just want to get the software like you all here... any suggestions? PM me if you can tell me how to get a copy of this software. Thanks!
