Waking Up in the Morning

Post by steamfan » Tue Jul 27, 2010 4:27 pm

I'd heard all manner of guidance as to what to expect after a night with the CPAP machine. But nothing prepared me for this morning. My tiny granddaughter (age 3) came down to my bedroom to wake me up. She'd never seen my full face mask. Thus I was awakened by a lovely little girl smacking my face mask with a ruler and screaming "You let go of my grandpa! Let go! Let go!"

She's just adorable. Maybe time to explain the purpose of the mask...lol Thanks for the picture.

That is sure one cute granddaughter you have. She has that sparkle in her eyes.

But your story makes me glad I showed my mask and the machine to my young niece the first time I slept over at her house. Her parents were away, and I didn't want her to come into my room in the middle of the night and be frightened. I never considered being attacked. BTW, once I showed it to her, the mask didn't bother her a bit.

I woke up once to hear my oldest granddaughter (7) explaining it all to my younger granddaughter (4). She did a good job and it was very funny.

When I first got mine, the dog looked at me in the morning and ran out of the room!
She still does not like the mask on my face.

Oh I love that! I'm more surprised that she didn't think you'd transformed into a monster overnight or something.

I have 2 young grandsons that spend the night at my house sometimes and I've shown them the mask, how it looks on me and even let them put it up to their faces and feel the air flow.

Omg, I did not expect this thread to go this direction! Love it! What a precious granddaughter you have, and thanks for sharing that comical story.

Thank you for the kind words. Living with Lilly is an intense, happy, lunatic experience. Today she asked me "Is that thing still trying to eat your face at night grandpa?"

Love the kiddie and pet stories! My grandkids didn't react much to the mask, but before I used cpap, my granddaughter (then about 3) spent the night. I woke to her sitting up in the bed staring at me and looking a bit distressed. I felt bad to know my snoring had scared her. She asked, "Grandma, why were you growling at me last night?" She was probably relieved when I started using the mask!
