Unexpected Results From Poll on Cpap Backup Plan

Post by mars » Wed Jul 28, 2010 4:23 am

Hi Everybody

I had some problems trying to evaluate the results of this poll. I discovered that when a poll allows more than one vote, the percentage values become meaningless. So the only way to get accurate percentages is to know how many members polled, but unfortunately, the poll does not count number of members who polled either, only the total number of votes.

So I have added the numbers of the first two questions together to come up with the probable number of members who polled, which is 124, and can now give reasonably accurate percentages.
  • I have only 1 cpap machine---------------------------------55---------------------------------------44%

    I have more than 1 cpap machine--------------------------69---------------------------------------56%

    I only have 1 mask-------------------------------------------12---------------------------------------09%

    I have more than 1 mask----------------------------------107---------------------------------------86%

    I have an oximeter------------------------------------------32---------------------------------------26%

I have an overnight power supply--------------------------48---------------------------------------39%

I would lend out my oximeter to help someone-----------19---------------------------------------59% of oximeter owners

I would lend my backup cpap/mask to help someone----36---------------------------------------52% of backup mask owners

I will not consider getting backup--------------------------07---------------------------------------14% of single machine owners

I will get backup as soon as I can--------------------------34----------------------------------------61% of single machine owners

Not sure (did not answer)-----------------------------------14---------------------------------------25% of single machine owners

Making a total of 419 votes.

The most surprising result of the poll is that out of 124 cpap machine users only 119 indicated they use a mask. Meaning that possibly up to five Forum members have worked out how to use the cpap machine without wearing a mask.

This is great news for all those who have mask problems, and I hope that at least one or two of the five will let us all into their secret. This could revolutionize compliance rates in cpap therapy, and make sleeping a whole lot easier for many of us.

Having a backup power supply was the subject of most interest, and there was a lot to learn from all the posts.

Thanks to all who participated.

cheers

Mars

Nice poll.
