Prescriptions to buy mask on cpapaution

Post by dogbone » Sat Jan 23, 2010 9:19 pm

I want to buy a cpap mask on cpapauction.com. Apparently a prescription is required to make a purchase. This is probably a dumb question but what's the best way to obtain a prescription: from my doctor, cpap supplier or can cpapauction or cpap.com obtain the prescription?

Do you have the prescription for your CPAP? (or is it on file with CPAP.COM?)
If so, that should work.
I wasn't aware that the auction site needed one for masks, but whatever......

From your doctor unless an equipment supplier you gave an original prescription to will return it or provide a copy that is acceptable to cpapauction.com.

The rules have changed on masks, Dale.
But, as long as a CPAP prescription is on file with CPAP.COM, it's supposed to work for masks, too.

Hi dogbone,

A prescription is not required to purchase a mask from CPAPAuction.com. From their question-and-answer page here http://www.cpapauction.com/cpap-help/76 ... items.html:

Is a prescription required to purchase non-machine items? No, a prescription is not required to purchase non-machine items. You may bid on and purchase masks, tubing, humidifiers, filters, etc without a prescription.

I purchased a mask there not long ago with no Rx. No problem.

Some places do require a prescription to purchase a mask, and some don't. It's always good to have prescriptions for machine and mask anyway.

Here's a recent post by Johnny Goodman, owner of https://www.cpap.com (this forum's sponsor), explaining why they require a prescription: viewtopic/t47518/Why-CPAPcom-Requires-P ... tions.html. But CPAPAuction.com's policy is different, as explained in my earlier post.

Thanks for all your answers. I made an assumption that a prescription is required because there is reference to prescriptions on the site registration forum.

Howdy Guys,

This is a mistake on my part and is not a policy difference.

We are short on coding resources due to a large project in the works. However, when this is complete, CPAPAuction.com will be changed to require prescriptions just as CPAP.com does now.

The prescription form and the reference to who can write a prescription are all from the CPAP.com site.
