Respironics Auto M Series Characteristics and Encore Viewer

Post by Paul22 » Tue Sep 23, 2008 1:47 pm

Yesterday I talked to a tech in the Encore Viewer section about blank pages in the Daily Details window. He said that in all cases the cause was in the machine itself and that the card reader and Encore Viewer had no part in causing blank pages. He said that the machine memory could handle 7 days (I think that was the number he gave me)--if more entries (sessions?) than that were made in one day data could be lost (data being written over?). He definitely said that too many entries made before the Smart Card is removed to be read could cause lost data.

He emphasized that the Smart Card should not be removed for at least one minute after the blower is turned off. He said that the download from the machine to the card is not started until the blower is turned off (sessiom completed) and that it takes a finite amount of time for the download to be completed.

I use the machine to blow air through hoses to dry them out. He suggested that the Smart Card be removed from the machine for any activity for which the Smart Card is not needed--reduces the possibility that extraneous data be put on the Smart Card and cause difficulties.

He also said, if there is a conflict in any given value of data between that in a machine screen and that in an Encore Viewer window, believe the value in the Encore Viewer.

My thanks to those who answered my previous post.

I have been formatting my smart card every Sunday morning and take the card out of the machine each morning shortly after I get up and put the data on my computer. Some days I have a nap but I do not put the card into the machine for naps. The card stays out, from the time I take it out in the morning until I'm getting ready for bed at night. It's part of my evening "routine" (like setting out my mask and topping off the humdifier water, etc) to put the smart card in the machine ready for the night.

With this "schedule" I have not missed data for many months.

It would be "sessions" that he is referring to when he says the machine handle 7 at a time I wold guess.

I don't take naps and I don't have any additional "sessions". Howevr, I do "sleep" a long time on weekends, anywhere from 10-15 hours. I lose two days of data every two weeks or so. I don't think the machine can store the number of hours I use.

I think the longest I've gotten on a session is about 12-13 hrs. I would have to do some checking tho. This could contribute to the session problem too. But so could using it for a drier or turning the power off during the day.

Good Luck,
