Humidifier and Software?

Post by Billy6 » Sat Aug 23, 2008 2:35 pm

What are the humidifier and software that is referred to in the profile section? The machine I got this week has no mention of a humidifier, but is there built in software? Is the software a chip that I'm supposed to take with me to the physicians office, where he can check compliance and whether my breathing is improving? (Yea, you're right, I should read the operating manual)

The humidifier is an add on that runs the air over a chamber that you put water in so that it humidifies the air and keeps you sinises from drying out. Most Doc's specify it with your machine. My ENT Doc all but insested on it. Most have a heater so that it can increase the moisture if you need it. There is one that snaps on to your unit, Intergrated one. The chamber is small and does have some problems. Many of us use the Fisher & Paykel HC150. It fits any machine and has a lot better controls on the heater. My sinuses will dry out and crack and bleed without it.

The software is refering to having the program (Envore Viewer or Encore Pro) and Card Reader that lets you read your own card so that you can take charge of your therapy and make the necessary changes to make everything work or at least have the information to tell your Doc why something is not working. Gives you a lot of information like the amount of leaks, your AI, HI and AHI. Most consider it a nessary thing to make your therapy work.

This is what your machine would look like WITH the humidifier:

And, WITHOUT the humidifier:

Your machine should have come with a "Smart Card" as pictured here:

Here's the link for the software and card reader bundle:
(the card reader is connected to your computer and the software downloads the data from the card and produces the reports)
