Has anyone out there developed trigeminal nuraldia after starting cpap therapy?

no, thank god
a dear friend of mine suffers from that terrible condition...wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy
did you develop it? has it been confirmed that it was caused by cpap?

As a matter of fact I did develop trigeminal neuralgia after starting CPAP. I wouldn't wish it on anybody either. It's one heck of an "owie" condition.

Regardless I don't think CPAP use can cause trigeminal neuralgia. Rather, for me trigeminal pressure ever so slightly exerted from the mask seal and strap tension seemed to trigger or aggravate flareups. Unfortunately trigeminal neuralgia kept me off CPAP for over a year. Finally back on CPAP thank goodness.

Anything you can do to get pressure off any of the trigeminal nerve branches may help. That includes getting strap pressure off the back of the
neck where the trigeminal nerve exits the cranium. The Nasal Aire or Nasal Aire II are probably the two best interfaces available for accomplishing that.

Here's one active trigeminal neuralgia patient message board if you ever get the urge to commiserate with friendly TN patients:

I recently had an attack of TN - these attacks stopped after I discontinued use of the device.

when was TN originally diagnosed? what were the doctor's credentials, specialty? was an MRA run?

what guarantees it will never return now that you have quit using a cpap?

just a person whose neurologist told them what pain I have is probably TN

Just a note on the CPAP and TN: the initial episode lasted four days - I doubt very much that I'm done with it - I've had no attacks over the past 23 days. My internist made the call. From my reading it seems like a textbook case - I expect a relapsing/remitting experience. The CPAP may have accelerated an underlying condition or, perhaps, produced it. No way to know.

I got TN after using CPAP Mask. I don't think the mask manufacturers want to admit it, but the pressure of the straps on the vessel and TN Nerve does not seem coincidental.

I had an outbreak of TN, which lasted 3 very painful weeks, a few weeks after starting on the CPAP machine. The hospital i attend say there is no connection and have never heard of a connection. I intend to start using the CPAP machine over the next few days so time will tell if the TN returns

Like Sharon,I have a friend who has sufferers from TN despite five surgeries and high doses of drugs.

What masks are being implicated?

I don't know if there is any connection at all but I started to use a CPAP machine in February 2011 and I woke up with TN on August 9, 2013. I will NEVER forget that day and while I eventually was able to resume wearing my CPAP mask, I still deal with attacks on my right jaw, the right side of my nose and the right side of my tongue.
