Feeling Blessed & firmly believe in The Holy Trinity
I bought the starter pack which included two of the Air Candy scents and the Calm. I do have a sensitive snoz, so it is probably just me that the vanilla and strawberry do seem to smell more "artificial" and don't last very long. But I realize they are artificial in the Air Candy line, so that seems fair. The Calm was so overpowering when I opened the package that I hesitated even to try it. I did eventually but almost instantly had to move it away from near the filter.
So while my first encounter with the product was not a resounding success, I am still willing to keep trying, but it seems like a lot of the scents have lavender listed, and I cannot stand lavender since having a heated rice bag with lavender inside to use after my car accident and getting sick from the meds.
Can anyone who has some of the other scents share with me how "lavendery" some of the combination scents smell? Is it predominant enough that I really should avoid those at all costs or do they just combine with the other ingredients to make a pleasant scent without being overpowering with the lavender scent?
Also, I was wondering about the "flavor" with peppermint. I've heard that mint can be a stimulating smell, something which a person wouldn't necessarily want when trying to sleep of course, and I wondered if anyone has had that experience with it. Now, if you could somehow have it times to start flowing through right before the alarm was set to ring, that would be a whole other story.
Thank you for your input!
Peggy

Peggy,
Here's my best shot to respond to your questions.
The Basic Starter Pack II was created because so many people seem partial to certain common, high-quality artifical fragrances and there are real limitations in types of true natural aromatics that are available (such as, in particular, fruit kinds of smells--they don't exist in natural form, period). So the new line of six AirCandy artificial aromatics was developed and from that an alternate Basic Starter Pack.
There are now six artificial and ten natural essential oils in the product line. Lots of choices.
That said, while lavender is included in most of the other blends it's in small enough quantities that at least I cannot detect it. Lavender kind of mellows things out a bit and may provide other benefits so it's included.
The Calm in your package is somewhat strong but does not contain camphor. It's a really mellow eucalyptus with lavender and rosemary. Once you get over the initial "hello" it might mellow right down for you. I always feel like a drunk koala bear when I use it--very nice for sleeping. I went for a month using that one.
Hope this helps!

The Peace essential oil blend is predominantly lavender. However, it's real lavender and I suspect that the heated rice bag experience was likely artificial lavender or "spike" lavender, which smell very different than authentic lavender. Personally, I don't really like using Peace straight and a tiny bit for a little while goes a long way for me. But may people love it. Everyone has a strong opinion when it comes to smells so that's why there are now 16 choices.pjwalman wrote:So while my first encounter with the product was not a resounding success, I am still willing to keep trying, but it seems like a lot of the scents have lavender listed, and I cannot stand lavender since having a heated rice bag with lavender inside to use after my car accident and getting sick from the meds.

The Clear (peppermint) blend is an all-time best seller, I believe, in large part because the peppermint "edge" is mellowed out by generous amounts of lime and lavender essential oil. Straight peppermint doesn't work. It's the one that I use almost every night.pjwalman wrote:Also, I was wondering about the "flavor" with peppermint. Hey SleepGuy, I can't thank you enough for my Starter pack that you gave me for a trial.SleepGuy wrote:

I originally said I couldn't stand Calm, but after few times of trying, I have gotten to enjoy it and it is calming. So anyone not sure about Calm, keep trying it takes a bit of getting used to, but boy it's great!
I also absolutely love French Vanilla!!!
I am going to order more stuff soon. I took my PurSleep with me on my business trip to hell. I had a sinus headache in Vancouver BC (pollen capital) and I used Calm. It did make me feel a bit better, if I had French Vanilla that might have helped too, but maybe too sweet for a sinus headache.
Anyways I absolutely encourage any CPAP user to invest in these products because it does add a whole new dimension to your therapy. It doesn't seem so medical with the lovely scents.

re Calm, I was with Peggy when I first opened the package, and I do keep that one just a little further from the air intake, but Its my favorite of the starter pack II. It is a little strong, but I use distance like "volume control" just move it until it is the right strength for me. Very soothing.
Thanks SleepGuy!!
Thanks SleepGuy!!
Peggy, I'm getting ready for the Sleep 2008 conference in Baltimore and will be unveiling shortly a fantastic new product ("new" as in nothing to do with aromatics) that solves a number of very common CPAP issues in a sensible, integrated, comfortable way. I'm very excited! Can't disclose much about it until all of the pieces are in place but you'll all hear about it hopefully within the next two weeks or so.pjwalman wrote:Definitely helps, SleepGuy! Thank you very much!!
And thank you for coming up with a product that helps so many people get through the night!
Peggy
I love your scents and can't wait for this NEW adventure of yours. I love the original starter pack I recieved as a trial and still using them almost nightly. The Air Candy, I was not as fond of, but can see why it is as popular as it is.
My thanks for such a great product that helps as many people as it does.

Well, I don't know how well I am at reading between the lines, and you are a pretty darned good tease, SleepGuy, , but all I can say to that is I'm hoping and praying that it is a revolutionary new full-face mask, designed by an actual CPAP user, that will be the ultimate in comfort and low (if there is such a word) leakability (likely not)! Lordy, I can't wait for someone to come out with the ultimate dream mask!!!I'm getting ready for the Sleep 2008 conference in Baltimore and will be unveiling shortly a fantastic new product ("new" as in nothing to do with aromatics) that solves a number of very common CPAP issues in a sensible, integrated, comfortable way.
But fantasy and levity aside, , I'm sure whatever it is will be well thought out, with your personal experience behind it, and I'm looking forward to the announcement in a couple weeks. Hopefully we will be some of the first to read the big announcement here on the forum!
