Before cpap, one of my most disturbing apnea nightmares was trying
to save my grandchild from drowning, while I am a very poor swimmer.
You forget about yourself until it's too late.

She ended up with a much better nose since she had to have surgery.
Kaiser (predictably) won't do cosmetic stuff. They said nothing can be done for the first 5 days anyway, and sent me home with a checklist. If I'm having any symptoms listed on the checklist I'm "invited" to call the head and neck department to have it looked at. They warn that any repairs have to be done in 7 -10 days, and that adults get only local anesthesia while they use instruments to manipulate the bones and cartilage through the nostrils. Kids get general anesthesia.

Uh, no thank you. Luckily, my nose is not misshapen, and even if it was, they dissuaded me with that. YIKES!!!

It's actually getting better, I can really tell today. Less swelling and pain. Fewer gory things coming out of my nose when I sneeze. I am on the mend.

Note: "cosmetic" procedures, by definition, are for appearance only.
If pain or breathing problems persist, the procedure is no longer "cosmetic",
and medical necessity prevails.
Hopefully, you will continue to heal, and your nose will be as good as new.

Glue came off my nose wound today and it looks pretty good. I still have two black eyes (only below the eyes, like a football player), but they are starting to turn colors around the edges. It's gonna be a technicolor week.

Best part is I feel like myself again. The first few days were rough!

Have you thought about getting a total face mask. Shure they look bulky
but you wouldn't have any contact with the mouth or nose while you healed
up.

It was definitely on my mind that first night, but I'm doing OK with the Dreamwear now. My nose is a little sore in the morning but nothing unbearable. My face is swollen more in the morning, too, I know from experience that's just going to take some time. I'm definitely on the mend.

Hurray for healing!
Be sure to get optimal nutrition--especially protein.
It's needed for healing.
Treats, of course, should be included in moderation.

Both my nose surgeries were done with a local anesthetic only...a walk in the park. No problem, the local is a total block of any pain from the nose. Kind of weird hearing the surgeon and associated personnel talking about you and what they're doing, but other than that, painless. Sounded like they were using a hacksaw and chisel, but probably not *smile*.

By the way, hope that you get all healed quickly. Didn't take long with my nose surgeries, hope that you have the same experience. Only bummer is that I can't use nasal pillow masks any more, but nasal masks like the Dreamwear work fine.
