DreamStation self check errors

Post by Woody » Mon Sep 17, 2018 4:39 pm

Dreamstations have 2 sets of error codes. The ones talked about in the manual
are short ones like E-0 , E-3, E-4 and so forth. But the ones listed if you do the
self check are totally different consisting of 19 digits and aren't listed in the manuals.
I did see that you are supposed to be able to enter them into Encore and decode
them but I sure don't know how any ideas ?

So you have Encore Pro?

I have but haven't ever seen anything for error code decoding but then I haven't looked and I don't have a Respironics DreamStation.

No I just have Encore basic. Oh I could call the customer service # but
being a person that stutters some reading that serial # and then those
five 19 digit error codes over the phone won't be fun.

Does Encore Basic even work with the DreamStation? I didn't think it did unless you got a much later version than I could ever find.

Someone on the Apnia Board said it did but I bet you are right and they are in error.
Won't hurt to try it anyway,

Woody,

I have the "DreamStation Service and Technical Reference Manual" and there is nothing like what you describe in there.

Edit to add:

I did find this on page 4-26. Don't know if that's what you're referring to or not.

total blower hours, and the total number of days used when the

It talks about this on page 5-29 section 5:11 at the end of the paragraph it
talks about decoding them in Encore anywhere, Encore Pro or Encore Basic
but I shure don't see how. But lets put this topic to bed and I will just call
the customer service number.

No page 5-29 in my manual. Only goes to 5-28 and then to 6-1.

The one I have had is Version 10. Probably explains that.
Thanks for the link. I've added it to my "library".

I found this in Encore Pro help section. I found nothing that said what any numbers actually meant. Appears to be just a way of documenting and recording the numbers.

I just contacted Resprodonix customer support and had an interesting little talk.
At first the agent didn't know anything about this built in check then researched it
a moment and then asked me if It showed the Failed notice with a big X . When
I said yes she told me just let my DME return it. Funny when you read about this
Preformance Check it says they will want you to give them those five 19 digit error
codes over the phone but it turns out they just asked if it showed the big X and the
note that it failed. Well at least I have a backup machine and not just any OLD
clunker but a S9 with only 800 total blower hrs !

If it's an autoset, it's a step up.

I had my Dreamstation that failed that test replaced. Then a year later the replacement also failed that self check
so it was replaced too. Now they seemed to be working ok just failing the self check. So when the replacement for
the replacement for the replacement that's right my 3rd dreamstation in 4 years failed the self test I just continued
using it as it seemed to be working ok. But over the next few months my 95% presure slowely rose to as high as 19 and
my AHI also rose from about 4 to 8.8 so it sort of looked like I might need a bipap to go to a higher presure. But with
this dreamstation recall I pulled my Resmed S8 out of the closest and set it for 12 to 16 and darn if it didn't give me
a 95% pressure of 13 with an AHI of 4.8. Then last night I hooked up a S9 Elite set to a pressure of 14 and darn if my
AHI was only 2.07 . So even without the foam issue it shure looks like I have a messed up Dream station doesn't it.
