Need new machine advice

Post by Kody » Sat Sep 01, 2018 9:29 pm

Hello, I haven't posted in a few years as everything has been going well. My machine is ancient and starting to go out I believe. It's a Respironics BiPAP autoSV advanced. I have complex sleep apnea and need to know what the current replacement for this would be. Thanks in advance.

In the Respironics model line the current model is the DreamStation AutoSV
https://www.usa.philips.com/healthcare/ ... ion-system

In the ResMed model line the current model is the AirCurve 10 ASV
https://www.resmed.com/us/en/commercial ... 0-asv.html

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

If you want to try the Eclipse mask and want a special promo code to get a little off the price...send me a private message.

What's with this rash of people coming back after being not here for a while, wondering what the new machine is.

I'd suggest making a sticky, but nobody would read it.

Thanks very much Pugsy. I remember reading posts a few years ago saying if your getting good results with the Respironics ASV's best to probably stay with them so I'll probably do that. :D

If a person has been using one brand for years and doing well with it....I don't advise changing brands and going with something different.
The body is used to one way of doing things and in this situation there is a rather significant difference in how they go about doing their job and while you might do just fine with the ResMed brand way of doing the ASV...you might not and it's a really pricey experiment because most DMEs won't let people try both brands. I wish they would but the machines are so expensive they don't keep much inventory in stock of those models just to loan out to people.

You might ask...never know...maybe they will have one you could try. If you don't ask the answer is always "no"

The differences between the 2 brands is most noticeable in the ASV models IMHO. I have actually tried both brands ASV just for grins...I prefer the ResMed BUT again...I started my experiments with the ResMed ASV...so I don't know how much of my preference is because I used it first or not.

In this situation...if you can't try a ResMed just to be trying it...I say if it ain't broke don't fix it and stick with what you know works well for you.
JohnBFisher use to liken using a Respironics ASV to a good comfortable luxury car...and the ResMed ASV to a highly sensitive sports car with trigger handling responses. They both will get you to where you want to go but the drive there is different.
