BTW, Trans Nasal Insufflation is usually mentioned in discussions about CPAP alternatives, but since the device employed costs about 900 dollars (not counting the 6HP Craftsman Air Compressor required to run it)(which, if you've never heard one running, would hardly qualify as a "White Noise Machine"), I think I'll leave it out.

As Theravent, they are selling it without a prescription, purportedly for snoring only, and here's how they got their new test results:
A Novel Non-Prescription Nasal EPAP Device (Theravent) to Treat Snoring
Rajiv Doshi, MD and Philip Westbrook, MD from Ventus Medical, San Jose, CA

Inclusion criteria included age of at least 18, presence of a bed partner, and nightly snoring. Exclusion criteria included diagnosis of OSA, witnessed cessation of breathing or gasps for air while sleeping, diagnosis of insomnia, history of respiratory failure, history of any other unstable and/or untreated serious medical conditions, and history of allergic reaction to acrylic-based adhesives (such as those found in BAND-AIDS). Patients judged to have a high risk for OSA were screened out of the study either during the phone screening or at physical exam. Patient demographics are summarized in Table 1.
but they are still claiming it can be considered as a cure for "Daytime Sleepiness" but if you read the fine print they are talking about the bed partner's daytime sleepiness, who loses sleep due to the patient's snoring! Clever!

Regards, Nate

OK, but Provent and Theravent are separate products.

I understand that they are sold as separate products, and that there is a slight difference in appearance, but can you determine whether they are designed differently?

Theravent

Provent

I would say that Theravent is designed to treat the bed partner:

"4 out of 5 bed partners had a quieter night's sleep with Theravent."

as well as the amount of nasal EPAP being substantially less.

Also, Provent is an internal nasal dilator, while Theravent is an external nasal dilator.

Provent is external. I don't know about the other.

While the predicate device [Provent] is an internal nasal dilator, the subject device [Theravent (inVent)] is an external nasal dilator

Who bought Provent? I'm totally confused.
