Re: Disappearance of REM sleep behavior disorder after change from BiPAP back to CPAP

My own experience sort of corresponds to yours- before I was first fitted with cpap over 32 years ago I experienced frequent nightmares of being choked or drowning and would burst out with screams . Those nightmares went away immediately after I began using my wonderful old dinosaur CPAP. and they h...

Re: Amara View - Magnetic Clips?

I have an implanted cardiac pacemaker, and was strongly advised not to use magnetic clips. My pacemaker supplier is concerned that the close magnetic field may upset the pacemaker settings. Admittedly, magnetic clips might be more convenient than the Res-Med snap fit clips that I now have., but I ce...

Re: Searching for Most Comfortable Chin Strap to stop Mouth Leaks

I have tried several different brands of chin straps and disliked most of them. My personal choice of chin strap is called PAP-Cap.It is all cotton with no stretchy straps that stretch out of usability. I have been using it several years and have found it quite satisfactory. It costs quite a bit mor...

Re: William Shatner the new face of "NoClean" just saw another commercial... sigh.

I am a long-time fan of Shatner, not much for the Captain Kirk role but for other parts he played. There was a law series with him as a rather wild but effective attorney named Denny Crane, who was in early stage dementia that I especially enjoyed. I think it was called "Boston Legal" It does pain m...

Re: Trip with Cpap to London- help?

I have never attempted to use my CPAP in-flight, but I have taken it to a lot of places. Personally, I never sleep well at all on aircraft-perhaps doze off briefly and then come back awake. By contrast, I occasionally drift off to much better sleep in my favorite LazyBoy recliner. I never use CPAP e...

Re: Loss of Sense of Smell from nasal pillows on CPap

I too have very little sense of smell now, but I don't blame my CPAP. I suspect my dulled senses are caused by a combination of age and a lifetime spent in industrial chemistry, and chemical laboratories. I smelled a lot of rather hostile substances every day-fluorine, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide etc...

Re: OT: Memory Eternal! Ross Perot

I share the expressions of goodwill for Ross Perot. I never voted for him but I always admired his patriotism and his concern for the economy of our country. And I admired his hard work and business acumen that took him from life as a hustling IBM rep to fame and riches. A great American!!

Re: Boycott Rotech

I inherited RoTech as my DME when my previous local DME was bought or closed. They have always treated me quite fairly and I don't have complaints. I would note that over the years I have been a customer, their level of technical assistance has severely declined. Originally there was an on-site ther...

Re: Crackling sound when tube flexes

I use an insulated hose cover, and hose motion noise is just not a problem. I've never had a heated hose, but with the "jacket" i have no rainout, even on cool/cold nights.

Re: CPAP and periodontal disease

I really don't think that CPAP treatment has a connection to dental diseases at least for me. I have used CPAP since 1987 (Part of that time with BiLevel) and have never experienced any dental diseases. Before I was ordered to have a heated humidifier I did occasionally have dry mouth problems and na...

Re: Anyone aware of any generic cost-effective witch hazel pads for facial cleaning?

The astringent preparation is derived from a small shrub/tree that grew wild back in the Appalachian region when I was a child many many years ago. If I remember correctly people would peel the bark from "switches" of the plant and boil it to extract the content. Back in those days, the extract was ...

Re: Pillow recommendation: side sleeper

I reaffirm the experience of Chris on this forum. I am a side sleeper, wear a ResMed Activa mask (Not a full-face) , and have never had good results from any of the so-called Sleep Apnea pillows. I have gone back to just a plain normal pillow. The odd shaped ones, the ones with cutouts, etc. were ne...

Re: CPAP Brings Longer Life for Those With Sleep Apnea

I have been treated with XPAP for about 32 years now, and though I a sorta "High Maintenance" person by now, I am nominally healthy and still hanging in there at age 88. I suppose I have certainly outlived the expected lifespan. I remain grateful for my original diagnosis and treatment all those yea...

Re: Dreamwear has lost tension on hose - need help

I have had a similar problem with the hose "Boot" becoming too loose. I now use a small automotive hose clamp and firmly tighten it around the "Boot" and it never slips off.
