Re: CPAP Struggles: Seeking Answers for Restful Sleep!

Just a long shot, any chance your sleep is restless and you have issues with limb movements? They are notorious for disrupting sleep and making it hard to get into a good sleep.

Re: Cervical collar for a weak chin?

Alongside your efforts with a cervical collar, think about gravity and make it work for you. A pillow that does not allow your head to slide into a tucked position may help. As a side sleeper, using a firm flat pillow helped me with that. If you are the hands-on type, you could even consider a cheap...

Shew, Pugsy, that's a whole lot of life happening there to deal with. Hope each of these things go as well as they can possibly go for you.

Re: Using CPAP for 7 years but still have brain fog

Wouldn't hurt to video your legs overnight and see if there are limb movements and if they fit the identifiers for Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. There can be limb movements seen on a study related to breathing and limb movements unrelated to breathing. A sleep study will say which they are. Those...

Re: Using CPAP for 7 years but still have brain fog

I noticed your previous mention of RLS. It is common for people with RLS to also have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, which can cause repeated arousals and affect sleep quality. Has that been ruled out?

Re: CPAP Making Me Hallucinate During Daytime

One thing your doctor said I agree with is to treat your sleep apnea before having the MSLT, the reason being is so the results aren't like trying to look through muddy water. The sleep deprivation caused by sleep apnea can do strange things to the brain. You want your MSLT to be looking for narcole...

Re: Initially diagnosed with OSA then told I do not have it

I am curious about the test that showed no sleep apnea. Do you happen to have or can you get a copy of those tests results? #1 Was there enough sleep time recorded to have a good representative sample of your usual nights? #2 Did you get a good chunk of REM sleep? OSA is often worse during REM stage...

Re: Sleep study tests - Do I need a Second one to confirm my Apnea ?

I'd just like to suggest to you that on the other side of figuring all these early details out, it is reasonable for you to expect good things from treating your sleep apnea. Healthy sleep is so important to not only our physical well being, but mental also. The stress hormones that come along with ...

Re: Suspecting long term Nasal Pillow use alters nose shape?

I'm thinking only if one either cinches it up way too tight over a long period of time or their nares were very small to start. Just my experience, but my once slotted nares are now just slightly oval-ish and I'm happy about that. Been using nasal pillows masks since 2005 and it took until the last ...

Re: Help please

The doctor who reviewed my sleep study hadn't brought up my limb movements. It would be unusual to omit that my limb movements are a cause for concern... Do you think you could help me with my CPAP settings too? Unless times have changed, having a doctor fail to recognize the possible significance ...

Re: Help please

Just noting your PLM index of 9.9 and wondering how informed you are on what this COULD mean. Periodic limb movements When a patient has both sleep apnea and periodic limb movements, a sleep study can give an incomplete picture of one's issues as these disorders can mask each other. Both of these ca...

Haven't searched to see your prior posts, just throwing out that periodic limb movements can cause fractured and unrestful sleep and has been associated with increased heart rate when active. Has this been ruled out for you?

Re: oral only cpap mask

Many years ago on here we had a member who used an oral mask exclusively (before Oracle) and she was more than satisfied. She had some facial structure features that the magnitude of any reconstruction made an oral mask her best option. Nice that there are so many mask options.

Congrats on the weight loss. I hear you on finding a new audience to tell. lol I'm down 75 pounds …
And congrats to you. It’s fun to see some of the same names and faces I remember from when I was more active here.
I thought the same thing when I saw your name. :)

Congrats on the weight loss. I hear you on finding a new audience to tell. lol I'm down 75 pounds and, like you, I still have OSA. I expected as much since I had OSA before I gained most of the weight. The other benefits though have made this one of the best things I ever did for myself. Was worth e...
