Re: Waking up suddenly feeling lightheaded and faint

Well, I sort if did see a doctor about it, I voiced my concerns to my pulmonologist/sleep specialist from the beginning, with my other symptoms. And that got the ball rolling to get my sleep apnea diagnosis. He didn't say he thought it could be separate from the apnea... But now my apap machine doe...

Waking up suddenly feeling lightheaded and faint

So, i've been having episodes where I wake up suddenly, feeling lightheaded like I'm about to faint. Sometimes with numbness. It feels like m my brain isn't getting enough oxygen. My heart rate is slight and I can barely feel my pulse. I've been using an apap for 2 months now, and I'm still getting ...

Re: Waking up with numb hands, my 2 months of CPAP. What now?

I was literally coming on here to ask about a similar situation I'm having, I too have been having episodes where I wake up suddenly, feeling lightheaded like I'm about to faint. Sometimes with numbness. It feels like m my brain isn't getting enough oxygen. I've been using an apap for 2 months now, ...

Re: Newbie bogged down already

I'm still a newbie myself so I'm by no means an expert, but I think it just takes time. I wasn't excited about having to wear a mask on my face at night, the first night with my nasal pillows, I was feeling claustrophobic too. I couldn't breathe through my mouth and it was a scary feeling. I pushed ...

Re: What caused you to seek medical help,....

I was seeing a pulmonologist (who also happened to be a sleep specialist) for unrelated breathing issues. And in case it was relevant to my breathing issues, I told him how I would wake up suddenly in the night, with a racing heart, gasping for breath, and feeling light-headed as though my brain was...

Re: Success!!

Looking really good. If you explain to your doctor your reasoning for increasing that minimum pressure he shouldn't have a problem with it and if he does than too bad. You are correct in that since the bulk of your events are obstructive in nature then more minimum was the key to getting the number...

Success!!

Thank you everyone who helped me with your suggestions and expertise! After a week of AHI of 7-17, I finally got it down to 4 and last night, 2!! I wouldn't have known how to make that happen without your help, changing the pressure, mask and chin strap issues, etc... Praying this will continue and ...

Re: Worst night yet

The cervical collar might help keep the chin up and prevent the drop that the chin strap is also trying to prevent. Some people prefer a cervical collar to a chin strap. The collar will also help keep the airway more in an "open" position vs maybe crimped or bent. I mention as something you might w...

Re: Worst night yet

What position were you laying during that first part of the night without the chin strap? On your back or on your side? Your leak data doesn't support mouth breathing happening significantly so I am scratching my head as to why the big pressures being needed without chin strap. Have you thought abo...

Re: Worst night yet

I changed my minimum pressure to 10, and went back to the nasal pillow last night. My AHI went back to 7 Which is what I was getting half the nights with the n pillow. I was sleeping for a few hours without a chin strap, but woke up with a dry mouth, so I added my chin strap. As you can see on the d...

Re: Worst night yet

Use the mask that is the most comfortable for you but change the minimum to 10 cm. The minimum pressure is your main issue right now in terms of therapy effectiveness. You will stand a better chance of improved effectiveness with the change to 10 cm minimum with a nasal pillow mask but not at the e...

Re: Worst night yet

Do me a favor tonight. Change the minimum to 10 (use the ramp if you aren't comfortable with 10) and go back to the nasal pillow mask. See what happens. Actually needing more pressure with a full face mask is quite common. Not sure why unless it's the mask straps on that full face mask maybe causin...

Re: Worst night yet

I am at a loss. I decided to try a second night with the FFM and give it a chance. But today I woke up to an AHI of 17.5. That surpasses my worst AHI number. I don't think there were any significant leaks. And to top it off, I am getting horrible aerophagia in the middle of the night, stomach pain a...

Re: Worst night yet

Yeah well....her doc has the minimum set too low and that's the problem and taking his own sweet time increasing it. Yeah, exaclty... He hasn't gotten back to me after I sent him a message asking to increase the minimum 5 days ago. I'm thinking about just increasing it myself, but I wonder what he ...
