Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
I don't think we can get that over hear, but here's photos of the tub after cleaning with vinegar and hot water solution... http://www.osahelp.com/After-clean-vinegar.jpg And here's a zoomed in with different light, if you look closely there are some marks on the metal now almost like scuff marks th...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
Before sending the 2x tubs back, Daytona you may want to try this if its happened to your new tub... I soaked the tub in vinegar and hot water solution for a couple of minutes, rinsed with cold water and the discolouration has complete disappeared and I don't have the bubble marks either although th...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
Thanks Sludge, so it seems that some stainless steel is more susceptible to rainbow effects vs other stainless steel, most likely due to the coating/treatment they have carried out? That would then lend itself to the tubs then and that could be why i'm not seeing it on other tubs. I have a replaceme...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
maybe the older tubs were anodized or coated. and the newer ones aren't. your refusal to use distilled water to test the theory... *shrugs* Anodised vs coated, quite possibly, there's something different there. I'm not adverse to trying distilled water but like I said it's very difficult to get dis...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
Even with a new machine, it will do it. For some reason in certain users environments it is occurring. Resmed is trying to figure out what it is that is causing it because it is not an across the board problem. Well I don't think it's the environment, if it was to do with the water like I've said b...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
Here's a few more photos comparing my 1 year old S9 replacement tub (yes it has some scale up the side walls where water level sits) but that's the extend of any corrosion after 1 year use compared with 3 nights use on the AirSense 10 tub on the right. Again I've taken photos from multiple angles bo...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
So I've now run the 2nd AirSense 10 Humidifier water chamber for 3 nights, it discoloured the same way (multicolours) on night 2. Here's a photo of both the 1st water chamber (left) used for 6 nights and the 2nd water chamber (right) used for 3 nights. It's pretty much identical discolouration altho...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
If you're not running your tank dry, the inside part of the tank isn't getting that hot. It wouldn't get above 100C until after it boils the water away. If it was getting anywhere close to that kind of temperature, you'd probably get a LOT of humidity and rapid water use. No I'm filling the tub up ...

I would say Elvis might win on bids, but then if there was one with Yoda, that would be the home run.

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
You're gonna have to change your name on here: "Dave Toasty Tub" Yep that's what I'm starting to think although it could still be a bad batch of tubs perhaps maybe we shouldn't rule that one out, heck maybe they're all affected? Yep "toasty" should by my middle name at this rate, or "On Fire" or "F...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
It may be caused by Fracking or Global Warming, overheating the baseplate element. Jim Or maybe an alien abduction and the alien beam coming down into my bedroom at night from the mothership is causing the tub to overheat Here's the comparison of the two tubs side-by-side, latest tub (left) after 1...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
Okay....Second AirSense 10 Humidifier Water Chamber (tub) before use and after 8 hours use, drum roll please... Before use http://www.osahelp.com/hm6e-tub2-night0.jpg After 8 hours use http://www.osahelp.com/hm6e-tub2-night1.jpg So I suspect the next move will be to swap out the entire AirSense 10 m...

Yes I remember that recall and was affected by it, it was to do with a power circuit board/cable problem.Guest wrote:For those resmed fans who have an interest search this forum or google using "SteriCycle resmed recall". circa 2007

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
It sounds like you have nailed it, unless there has been recent changes to your local tap water. I suspect our water is more wonky than what you folks get, which is why the idea entered my little green skull. Yeah our water in the UK isn't that bad, some areas it can be quite hard but where I am it...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use
Chunkyfrog, I used to use distilled water for a couple of years and was then told by ResMed UK that it really doesn't make a difference and as distilled water isn't easy to get hold of (and expensive) in the UK and ever since ResMed UK recommend regular tap water to be used. For the last 7 years I'v...
