Re: OT/Political: Gun Control Laws

I used to mentally look askance at folks when they invoked conspiracy theories. But ever since the FBI fake dossier and fast and furious gun-running scandals,** I no longer dismiss those explanations out of hand.

Re: Tired and not as fresh as I was a few days ago

It might be that your settings are on the edge of where they need to be. So some mornings you feel great and others, not so much. The average, however, should be better than it was before. You need to ascertain that your settings are optimal for you. That can be determined pretty well in an overnigh...

Re: O.T. Anybody Have Experience With Any Health Sharing Orgs?

No argument here. COBRA sucks. As part of my severance package, company paid COBRA premiums until July. At at this point, it's paying 100% of my wife's medical costs, and next month she has a total knee replacement. As soon as that's done, she'll go on Medicare and I'll transfer to some other insura...

Re: O.T. Anybody Have Experience With Any Health Sharing Orgs?

I appreciate that, but I needed to cover my wife who has had five surgeries since the beginning of the year. We'd already paid our out of picket maximum when I became eligible for COBRA, so until she goes on Medicare for Disability, COBRA represents a better deal than if I went elsewhere and had to ...

Re: CPAP Ramp Pressure start

At 6 cm, you won't notice the pressure. I'd leave the ramp off and just strap on and start breathing. If you had a very high minimum pressure, like 10 or so, then maybe the ramp would keep you from being startled by the sudden inrush of air. The ramp feature appears to exist to help new users get us...

O.T. Anybody Have Experience With Any Health Sharing Orgs?

I am in sort of a pickle. I'm 61, and after working for the same company for 30 years, was laid off twice in four years. My employer was acquired by another company which immediately re-prioritized projects. Mine was cut. And so was I. A year later, I was re-hired in another position within the comp...

Re: How Important is the Sleep Study? Self-treat user looking for opinions

It kind of depends on whether you had a good sleep test or a bad one. A good sleep test will identify which parameters are causing you to sleep poorly. It isn't always as simple as classic obstructive sleep apnea; there are other conditions that might be present, and a sleep study conducted and revi...

Re: OT/Political: Gun Control Laws

Unless you're doing this as an assignment for an acting or public speaking or debate class, I wonder why you would agree to do such a thing. If you're expected to play the role of someone whose beliefs are antithetical to your own, you're not going to carry it off convincingly, and you'll do yoursel...

Congrats on your success. It's good to hear that a new user is experiencing benefit from xPAP therapy. Usually all we hear about is when users are disappointed, or are threatening to give up. The other newbies here need to hear from folks like you that are seeing benefit. Otherwise, many will become...

Re: CPAP Improperly Set-Up Fails Another Patient

Well, I think we DO get to some of them. At least the ones who show up here and post messages about giving up. Some sound like they're jumpers looking for someone to talk them down. And the response is usually very helpful. I think my pulmo-Doc was right. There's insufficient care diagnosing and esp...

Re: CPAP Improperly Set-Up Fails Another Patient

Thanks for your insight, Pugsy. I was on the fence as to whether or not to offer advice. But his demeanor and body language said he was really done and just wanted to get the transaction over with. And he showed no interest when I said that I had been using the same machine for more than 7 years. So...

CPAP Improperly Set-Up Fails Another Patient

I scored an S9 Autoset with 10 hours on the clock from a local Craigslist ad this morning and exchanged two pieces of Monopoly Money for the machine. Jeff was a tall guy in his early 40s. He had the appearance of someone who had recently lost a lot of weight. It turned out he had. He said he only us...

S9 Autoset How to Tell from Elite/Escape, etc?

I have the opportunity to buy locally from a private party an S9. I have a photo of the label on the back side. However it doesn't say Autoset on it. But neither does the one on my current S9 Autoset. How do you tell from the label whether you're looking at an S9 Autoset, or an Elite, or an Escape? ...
