Re: Time to shop for my CPAP!
Do note that the machine he's selling has only 363 hours of use on it. That is only 45 days of use! It's practically new. And the expected lifetime of modern cpap machine is at least 5 year or 14,600 hours.

Re: A newbie message.
I agree with the suggestion to use the machine while you are awake and doing something else distracting, like watching a movie or surfing the net. It can make a huge difference in getting comfortable with the machine. Also, what are your pressure settings? If the machine was left "wide open" at 4-20...

Re: FFM and vertical taping
I tape across my lips horizontally rather than vertically. I find that a single strip of tape is enough as long as I place it correctly. I look in the mirror, roll my lips inward, and apply the tape from side to side. This reduces my AHI from 3-6 to less than one. And most nights, myair shows no lea...

Re: I need Help
I would just like to mention that a hose hanger can completely eliminate any hose problems. My previous mask, the Breeze, had the hose come in from the top of the head and I liked that aspect of it. But the AirFit P10 is a much, much better mask in every way. And having the hose hanger makes the ver...

Re: No change yet
Awesome post, Robysue! Sleep can be such a fragile thing and, unfortunately, cpap isn't always the silver bullet that people are hoping for. It is sometimes part of a longer journey of trying different things to improve our sleep. CPAP can be a huge help in treating the disordered breathing aspect o...

Re: Titration study needed?
It is the way it is normally done. If a patient has severe apnea, they will often do the titration during the second half of the night of the sleep test. But many doctors and sleep labs and insurance companies have a certain protocol that they need to follow. The advantage of the titration is that a...

Re: Two new Resmed Masks---coming soon?
All of our faces are different, but so far, the P10 has been the perfect mask for me. With the P10 and piece of tape on my lips, I get zero leaks night after night. And using a cheap hose hanger makes the hose disappear altogether. Sure, I'll have to give the new models a try, but I haven't worn out...

Speaking of bandaids, these things are amazing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JXV5G6/ I found out about them at the doctor's office and they stick like nothing else and they are even cheap! Highly recommended.

Re: OT: Time out and/or Duke it out thread
Thank you for your post, Pugsy. You put into words well what I'm sure many have been thinking and feeling. I try to read most threads to see if I can help but it's soooo discouraging when people start sniping and attacking each other. I have a thick skin and when someone replies and adds a snide com...

Re: Best recording oximeters for home sleep study, under $125
Does anyone actually use these things for more than a short period when they first get them before tossing them in a drawer, never to be used again? Have they been useful to making adjustments to cpap theapy? Doesn't a sleepyhead report provide much, much more information for free? Or am I missing s...

Re: Compliance Report: New and Clueless
The DME that supplies the machine to you can access the data remotely using the unique serial number of the machine. This is usually only done if someone asks them to do it - like a doctor's office or regulatory agency. Often, the DME is asked to provide the reports directly to the requesting author...

Re: Is CPAP Forever? The Future of Sleep Apnea Treatment
I liked the article close: The bottom line Sleep apnea is dangerous, and if left untreated, it can even be deadly. Let's worry about getting you through the next two to three years safely and healthily. Then, we can look around and see how therapy has changed. Hopefully by then, there will be even m...

Re: CPAP Cleaning
Hoses don't even need washing. All that goes through them is filtered room air. I just don't understand this cleaning compulsion many cpap users have. The more you mess with the hose, the faster it wears out.
