[quote="tony22"]zorro13, I would love to hear any further thoughts on whether you think I should go for the Vantage.

Edit: zorro13, I just looked at the Elite II manual on-line and can't find anything about an AUTO mode. Are you refeering to the Elite II when you said this or the Autoset Vantage?

Sorry Tony I meant the S8 auto spirit II. Difficult to stay on top of different names in different countries

I have owned both. The elite II in AUTO mode has ZERO resistance at 10cm. I have not used EPR on the II why bother when you have no resistance in Auto mode? I use the auto as a Cpap by setting it at my prescribed pressure and then let the machine handle any increases due to back sleeping or the odd ...

As a layman, zero of anything you are trying to avoid has to be better than getting what you don't want 5 times. I believe the medical community has to show an acceptable number or we would all be on Xpap

Zorro, Why not give the milk of magnesia smear a try? Skim milk is also supposed to work in the same manner, though I've never tried it. The milk of magnesia really helps with the irritation caused by nightly taping as well as the easily removal of the tape, should you need to do so. I also used to...

I'm a heavy mouth breather so I need strong medical cloth tape, problem being it takes a long time to remove and annoying if you want a drink in the night.

[quote="wabmorgan"]Brother Tony,
I too would recommend you try the Activa mask. It is the only mask I found that can be worn comfortably (lose) and it still doesn't leak.

Hang in there!!!!!!!!!!

dsm. Thanks that sounds very logical for cpap but I'm in Auto mode and there is a specific selection with resmed to increase hose length and as ozij said, "in a machine that uses the hose length info - makes you wonder what the info is used for." _________________ CPAPopedia Keywords Contained In Th...

I agree with you ozij and apart from a deterioration in treatment the damn hose cost 60 oz dollars at resmed

[quote="Goofproof"]Resmed must know their limitations, that's why they made you set your own machine. Same for the mask leak rates.

The other manufactures just spec in quality up front so users don't have to reset them all the time. Jim

[quote="ozij"]Zorro,
You're using a Resmed Vantage - an auto. I wonder what your range is, and also, whether the AHI difference comes from more As more Hs , or is equaly divided.

Size matters (hose)

This info is just an observation however it may be useful to those with a 3m hose. I rigged up an overhead hanger and selected 3m on my display and for 10 straight nights my AHI went from early ones to 2.9 avg. I switched back to the 2 m hose and the last 5 nights avg AHI is 1 Not big numbers but a ...
