Re: Sleep Study for Bipap Titration

what is the trigger that causes the doctor to consider switching to bipap? Is feeling uncomfortable with exhaling sufficient or is there some finding with the sleep data that points to bipap being a superior therapeutic choice for the patient? Very good question. I haven't seen any finding that poi...

Re: Is mask and hose cleaning important?

IMO the hose is a non issue...The mask cushion should be cleaned occasionally or wiped with cpap wipes. You will find LOTS of opinions on this...everything from "never clean them" to "clean them every night". it depends what your personal level of hygeine and cleanliness is. some people couldn't li...

Re: Humidifier chambers to empty or not to empty

I top it off with distilled water. I dump it perhaps twice a year, slosh some vinegar around, let it stand with the vinegar in it for half a day, rinse with distilled water, and start over again for many more months of just adding more distilled water each night. Been doing it that way for about eig...

Re: Anybody heard from rested gal ?

Anybody heard from "rested gal" lately ? Her last post was way back on March 15th. I sure hope all is ok. All is ok. No problems. Healthy and happy as usual ... just been extra busy with the dogs and with spring mowing/planting/etc. Years ago I gave both my sisters the contact info of a few people ...

Good thinking, USMC. Hope the hanger you made is working well for you. When you mentioned PVC pipe, it reminded me of how Craig made one. Here's a link to a post that has photos of the way he did it: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?p=43991#p43991 For additional creative ideas for how to get th...

Dori, I hope everything progresses well for Mike in rehab. I know I overuse the word "treasure" when talking about you, but you really are. A treasure to Mike, most of all, and to so many of your friends on this message board. I'll be thinking all good thoughts for both Mike and for you!

Thanks for the link, Nate. Reading what the researchers did, I couldn't help thinking... "well, duh...??!" Yeah, I get it, that this was the reason for that particular study: RATIONALE: To establish a new approach to investigate the physiological effects of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and to eval...

Have you ever heard your machine laughing at you or am I the only one? Jim, I fight fire with fire. I have my backup machine sitting in plain view of my primary machine. If my primary machine starts to taunt me, it will go into the closet and never again see the light of day. The only way to deal w...

Re: Feminine looking chin strap?

Sounds fun, especially the lab rats part! Actually I've wondered whether to bump the "Lab Rats Trophy" thread. I found it via google advanced search, but it's about six years old and I wasn't sure if the links had all been collected somewhere more recently, with the current generation of equipment....
