Re: Bilevel and anesthesia

I have had two major surgeries (hip replacement and back surgery) since being on a bi-level machine. I had no problems either time.

Re: When to service blower motor?

Your machine will probably last at least 20000 hours. Mine had over 21000 hours on it when my insurance replaced it. If you're worried about the motor quitting, pick up another used machine. I see them advertised on Facebook Marketplace quite often. I found my backup machine there a few years ago.

Re: Occasionally unable to breath when using CPAP

Since they have already been diagnosed with sleep apnea, they will have the mask on all night long. This will be a titration study to determine what pressure(s) they need and if a bi-level machine is necessary.

Re: Resmed Aircurve 11?

My wife and I both got new Air Curve 10 VAUTOs in January. Since we were used to them, and already had plenty of extra supplies on hand, we wanted the Air Curve 10, not some other model. These and our spares will last us several more years.

Re: 1 Month on APAP - Very Confused

Chin straps often push the jaw backwards slightly. I tried several different ones and could never find one I liked. Like a lot of the people here, I use a firm, foam cervical collar to hold my mouth closed. This has the added advantage of keeping my chin up which helps to hold my air passage open.

Re: New Sleep Position is Causing Major Problems

I have had arthritis in the hips and spine for several years and have had one hip replaced. I sleep in an adjustable bed which helps relieve some of the discomfort caused by the arthritis.

Re: Ive been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea – Now I’m getting very worried

I was 72 when I started using my machine and my wife was 71 when she got hers. Many of us have started later in life and have managed to get used to using them. It has taken some of us longer than others to get used to them. It took me almost over a week of using it every night before I could sleep ...

Re: Hi, I'm new

I have never cleaned my equipment daily. When I first started, the respiratory therapist I was working with said she washed her and her husband's equipment once a week. That sounded reasonable to me, so that is what I did at first. Now, it's more like once a month if I remember to do it. I never was...

Re: Finally an answer to my Problems?

It made it easier to breathe which in turn made sleeping better. I had this as well as turbanate reduction and UPPP surgery all at the same time. I no longer snored, and my wife said I no longer quit breathing while sleeping. I did not do another sleep study after my surgery, and my sleep apnea symp...

Turns out I have Sinusitis and a Deviated Septum.
I used to have sinus infections quite often. In 1996, I had my deviated septum repaired, and have had very few sinus infections since then. I strongly recommend you get the deviated septum corrected if you can.

If you hold your hand real close to the elbow, ypo can detect a small difference in the temperature. It will be warmer when you exhale and cooler when you inhale.

Re: Just had Septoplasty & Turbinectomy - anyone here who can experience share what this has meant for their CPAP therap

I had my surgery done several years before I started using my bilevel machine. I was able to breath much easier through my nose with the splints in place than I could prior to the surgery. I had this done in conjunction with UPPP surgery and it kept me from needing a machine for more than fifteen ye...
