Re: Mask Recommendation
Gotta love Amazon, that pillow arrived today!! Can't wait for hubby to try it out. He said he's willing to try it "for me". Guess he doesn't fully realize that ultimately, it's for himself. Found out from DME that his equipment prescription has run out. Good for him, he made an appointment with the ...

Re: Second Sleep Study Kinda in Denial
Speaking as a wife of a CPAP user, she will love it! There are obvious health issues with NOT seeking treatment ... but aside from that, the machine is not bothersome at all. Compared to the sound of your snoring and breathing struggles, it's blissfully quiet when all is in balance. My husband's mac...

Re: Mask Recommendation
Thanks for all the suggestions! Pillow is being ordered, instructions for the tongue technique have been relayed, and the mask recommendations have been noted and are ready for DME-guy. Although I think we're getting a new DME-guy ... my husband had trouble getting thru to the old one. So let's see ...

Re: Mask Recommendation
I have also looked into the CPAP pillows, but it's been a while. He likes a very "flat" pillow, so I tried to make my own by cutting up a cheap pillow ... he hated it. But maybe I should try again, getting a real one. If it works (if he would even use it at all), it would certainly be worth the inve...

Re: Mask Recommendation
I'm sorry, Pugsy, when I had inquired about the cloth masks before, the DME-guy was VERY down on them, so I guess I thought it was TV commercial hype and not a "real" product. Reassuring to know they're not crap! It's been a long time since I've looked, so had forgotten they were nasal-only. I don't...

Mask Recommendation
I'm writing as the wife of a CPAP user ... I can't stand it any more and need HELP!!! Since my husband starting using CPAP 5 years ago, he is sleeping better and overall, much more quietly. He is a mouth breather so needs a FF mask -- he has been using a "Hybrid"-type mask and is comfortable in that...

Re: flying and cpap
We have travelled with my husband's CPAP for several years now. We got our doctor to write a "prescription" for distilled water. Went to the pharmacy and got empty 16-oz bottles with prescription labels that we fill at home. Surprisingly, we've had no problems getting through security, since the wat...

Health Insurance
Has anyone had to change health insurance companies after being diagnosed with OSA? How difficult is it to get coverage, and how much hassle? Especially when there is no employer-sponsored insurance available. Looking for help and recommendations on insurance companies ... And by the way, we're talk...

Re: Advocating for a new patient
LOL, yes, of course! But they have taken a vow to "wait" till marriage ... which is very admirable! So it's hard for me to think in those terms!

Re: Advocating for a new patient
Good to know, Pugsy, thank you! I try to avoid doctors when at all possible, LOL! And Janknitz, awesome info, thank you, and we'll definitely follow up on that. It was not easy to convince my daughter's fiance to get checked out. It was very difficult watching him convulsing on my couch, trying to b...

Re: Advocating for a new patient
Yes, of course we'll ask ... and if the insurance won't pay for two machines, we'll pick up a second one online. I'm prepared for that possibility. I read the article from Janknitz about "what you need to know before you meet your DME", which was very interesting. I do wonder, though, how things wil...

Advocating for a new patient
My husband has been on CPAP therapy for nearly 5 years, and I found this forum soon after he received his first machine. It was a blessing and a godsend to have people here to help guide us in unknown territory, since his doctor was pretty much clueless. Our oldest daughter is recently engaged. Imag...
