Re: CENTRALS

... I purchased a DeVilbiss IntelliPAP autoadjust, which so far has met my needs. Glad to hear you are doing well with managing your sleep. You are right that you can and should proactively manage your own symptoms. Using the data on my Respironics BiPAP was one way I helped demonstrate my current ...

Re: Travel with the Cpap

Hi! I will be traveling with my cpap for the first time this weekend. Has anyone had any difficulty taking in your carry-on on the plane? Thanks! Not anymore. A long time ago I would have to prove that my CPAP unit was what I said. Now they just swab it, as others have mentioned. Allow yourself a l...

Re: Will You Get the Swine Flu Vaccine?

Two separate questions Will you take the swine flu vaccine when it is available? Do you consider sleep apnea alone to be a chronic medical condition? Yes and yes. However, the vaccine providers have VERY specific rules on "chronic conditions" and I suspect obstructive sleep apnea is not one of them...

Re: New Apnea Treatment Needed

Based on my personal experience, I would agree that, in general, most severe OSA patients are compliant. The ones that weren't compliant are already dead. I agree. Unfortunately, it there is no joke in this. From my own experience, I am certain my grandfather had obstructive sleep apnea. Of course ...

Re: Poor Me!

I'll certainly try what you suggested, Muse & Rooster. I just don't get why it's happening now and not 3 months ago. Sigh. It is a "pain", isn't it? Litterally! I offer my sympathy. (Been there, got the T shirt, wore it out, got another ...) Why now? Well, it might be you are more restless recently...

However, I keep dancing ...

I get up. I walk. I fall down. Meanwhile, I keep dancing. --Rabbi Hillel Well, it's been quite an adventure so far. Over 18 years ago, I noted serious problems with my sleep. Fortunately, my wife suspected I might have obstructive sleep apnea. She brought information and articles to my attendtion. ...

Re: CENTRALS

What can they do if I change the machine myself? would they drop me as a customer? I am a chicken still. Afraid to mess it up. The biggest problem is that your body might not react well to increased or decreased pressure. I recently went through two sleep studies. They attempted to titrate me with ...

Re: Bi-PAP battery question - why is this cable SO expensive?

The text on the CPAP.com site claims that it is 12V. The machine says it is 24V. That is not straight. The original question I asked was about the ridiculous price for this specific cord, when other cords for Respironics machines are about $25. The difference is that some of the older REMstar BiPAP...

Re: Question for experienced cpap users

At 18+ years of CPAP/BiPAP use, I think I qualify as an experienced user. Does my sleep vary? Absolutely. It all depends. On what, you might wonder. Well, it depends on: Did I eat late? Did I have a alcohol during the evening? Did I have caffeine late in the day? Did I have a lot of stress during th...

Re: Do all masks fit all machines?

In general they do. HOWEVER ... (Isn't there always a "however"?) ... some masks will NOT work with some machines. For example, I understand from my DME that the ResMed Quattro (full face) mask sometimes registers as having too high a "leak" rate. It's not leaking, it's just allowing air to exit qui...

Re: AHI & Leaks

My heart goes out to you. I'm having all sorts of problems with my sleep. I'll eventually post information here. One thing I found in trying to get to the bottom of my issues is that (due to arguements with my previous DME and my insurance company) my mask was next to useless (a Quattro full face ma...
