Re: I hate my CPAP!!! audiobooks

I know what you mean about the silence waking you up!

Yes, I'm enjoying the same 5 min over and over! Luckily the audible app has bookmarks. So I set the bookmark before I close my eyes. I really enjoyed relaxing at night and getting lost in the story before I fell asleep.

I hate my CPAP!!! audiobooks

I listen to audiobooks before going to sleep. I set the sleep timer on the audible app to 45 min. I'm really picky about the books I read and the ones I read I really get into. With my CPAP and the SW Elan I fall asleep in five minutes!!! grrr I don't get ANY reading done!!! But I love the sleep I'm...

Re: It's official - Two CPAP family now

Good news! I'm so glad he's willing to give it a go. My dad is in denial even tho both my sister and I use cpap. It's so disheartening. Believe me I've used the 2x4 option and told him all the gory details of what could happen if you don't use cpap. And he's already had one small stroke! His sleep d...

Re: Nikken experience anyone?

IMNSHO magnets have no healing powers. I would spend the money on a good mattress. You've already had two good suggestions. I have a tempurpedic and love it. I got the adjustable one so I sleep with my head raised slightly and if my legs are tired or swollen I can raise my legs. It's heaven. If you ...

Re: Lincare and Sleepweaver elan (followup)

That totally sucks! My DME will let me get a new cloth part every 3 months. The starter kit has two mask sizes, the plastic hose connector, mini hose and headgear. Once you get your starter kit you could buy replacement cloth part only for $25 at CPAP.com.

Re: Thoughts on the Sleepweaver textile mask please

I have the Elan and will never use another mask (as long as they keep making it)! And I RAVED about my True Blue when I got it. Bleh - can't stand that mask now. A cloth mask is a completely different experience. I won't repeat the info in the previous threads, but I do have a couple of comments on ...

Re: Newbie has concerns - your input appreciated

Revtim - your concerns are totally normal!!! All these topics (oral devices, weight loss, types of machines, etc, etc) have been discussed in detail on this forum. I would recommend a search for each topic and read, read, read. CPAP is the gold standard for treating OSA. Did the doc give you your sl...

Re: Sinus infection and CPAP

RINSE. RINSE. RINSE. Rinse your sinuses several times a day with saline. You can buy the "ocean" nasal spray at the drug store or make your own using a neti pot. After using the neti pot for years, I think the spray action of the water bottles does a better job, but that's just my opinion. I averted...

Re: cpap not enough to stop episodes of sleep apnea. whats next?

I think before you change medications, you should ask that your father's machine be changed. The ESCAPE does not provide therapy data (just hours of use). I would ask for a Resmed S9 Autoset. Or even better S9 VPAP. Once you can see his daily data on AHI and leaks, etc. then you'll be able to have m...

Re: Very confused

Welcome! You are the boss - not the DME! It is your life that is on the line - not theirs. Be INSISTENT on what you want. I think you've already figured this out, but it's always a good reminder to all of us. You will feel better even if it takes a little while to figure everything out. Remember, it...

Re: How to encourage husband on new cpap, he is depressed

You are so awesome to help him with this. My dad gets his first sleep test results next week and he's already told me he doesn't want to have a cpap because he's positive that he doesn't have OSA. I'd like to a couple more things to Chunky Frog's list - sudden death - stroke - heart attack OSA can k...

Re: Does Lincare carry Sleepweaver Elan? and other elan question

I love the elan too. I don't think I'll ever use another mask. I would switch your settings to "nasal" if you decide to use the elan for the majority of the time. Pugsy would know more about how the data is interpreted. Are you using the "regular" size or the "large" size? The size is printed on the...

Re: adjusting sleep weaver advance cloth mask

The eye lubricant comes in a tiny little tube and is a bit on the pricey side. You put it directly in your eye. My eye doctor recommended it. You should probably consult your eye doctor. I would start with artificial tears. Use some before you go to sleep and when you get up. There are different for...
