Re: Is massive leak OK if good AHI & feeling good?
The first question to ask is why move away from something that worked? A FFM will need some adjustment to get it right and might take a week or two. Your chart says that you are definitlely leaking from somewhere. This might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n83IJnP1wyY One of the classic mistak...

Re: Travel CPAP Experience, Plans, Batteries, Testing, Modification etc.
My back up (and travel) machine is a Resmed S9 bilevel. If you leave the humidifier in your checked luggage, the machine is not too much bigger than any of the travel machines. I know because I did a comparison. Airlines won't let you use a humdifier while flying for obvious reasons so why take it o...

Re: Best travel cpap??
I travel with my normal machine Resmed Aircurve 10 VAuto when flying overseas. I also have an S9 BiLevel and usually leave my humidifier behind or in checked luggage when I fly interstate. When I drive, once again it's my normal machine which I put into the boot of the SUV. When flying I've worked o...

Re: Has anybody ever used the AC power on a aircraft to run a CPAP?
I had booked a particular seat in business class and they said that while it should be OK, it might not provide the power. Did I want to change to other seats in the business cabin that definitely would? QANTAS is without a doubt the easiest airline to deal with over use of xPAP in flight. At-seat ...

Re: Has anybody ever used the AC power on a aircraft to run a CPAP?
I recently flew from Australia to the UK for a two month holiday. I informed the airline (Qantas) before flying and they asked me to fill out some basic details online. What they really wanted to know was the machine brand and model. I had booked a particular seat in business class and they said tha...

Re: cpap to bipap
I've purchased two BiPAP machines from https://www.secondwindcpap.com/ and have not needed a script. They are used machines but have very low hours and can be obtained for $800 or less. I'd recommend the Resmed Aircurve V10 Auto.

Re: Type of sleep test needed to be prescribed a APAP machine versus CPAP?
Thank you all for the replies. I'm beginning to think this doctor just prescribes cpap. Several of my co-workers went to the same doctor and the doctor prescribed them all with the Resmed Air Sense 10 CPAP which I've read doesn't give a lot of info to the user or vary the air pressure. I'm going to...

Re: Alternative for Cervical collar?
"The Eliminator" is very similar to "Dr Dakota". It is cooler than a regular cervical collar, but the foam is fairly stiff. I have two of them. I removed the foam from one (it has a zipper) and filled it with buckwheat hulls. I still need to get someone to make a liner from less-stretchy fabric, bu...

Re: HuffDog's Therapy Thread - Optimizing my therapy
My next question relates to dreaming. When I was younger, I would dream a lot. Vivid dreams that I could remember the next day. As I grew older the dreaming stopped, presumably as my sleep apnea got worse. I anticipated that dreaming would come back as I optimized my therapy. But it hasn't. My AHI ...

Re: Buying a CPAP machine
Don't buy from an Australian supplier! The machines are very expensive compared to what they cost in the US. If you have a prescription for your OSA then there are any number of US suppliers who can send you a new machine. If you go down this route then make sure that who you buy from registers the ...

Re: Can a high end bi pap "auto fix" apnea?
The reason most people give up on PAP therapy is the mask, not the pressure from the machine. By all means go for a nasal mask. You might find nasal pillows even better. Two masks that are not very intrusive are the Dreamwear (mask and also pillows) and also Resmed's N30i/P30i. The hose connects at ...

Re: Chin Strap That Actually Works
My solution is to try a soft cervical collar. Chin straps tend to pull your jaw backwards and this can compromise breathing.

Re: New machine....NHS.. - really bad headaches, mask leaks
Surely, with a fixed pressure machine, all the NHS have to do is set the machine to the same pressure as your S8. So if that was, say, 11 then that's what they do. From what you've posted it seems that they haven't done this and maybe you can do this yourself. If you know what your pressure setting ...
