Re: Length of time using mask at night

At a 17 cm starting pressure...that's going to take a lot of getting used to. Those of you who think all you have to do is set your mind to it and "get used to it"... crank your machine up to 17 and see what it feels like. It isn't easy at all. I didn't say it would be easy. And I don't think it's ...

Re: Flow Limitations ??

If it doesn't go below the minimum then I guess it's okay, maybe even useful. This would be preferable for people who don't like the way ResMed machines stay high for a good while after increasing the pressure. I wonder how good the machine is at detecting waking states. Sometimes it's pretty obviou...

Re: Length of time using mask at night

Thenks everybody. My pressure is at 17 and I try to think I'm on an ocean cruise (not the Carnival) with the sea breeze coming in but it ends up feeling like a dog with his head out a car window. The ramp time is 45 minutes so hopefully I can fall asleep in that time. Actually, you want the pressur...

Just sayin'.
That's interesting. Remind me what it was before, 10?

Re: AHI variation

That's very odd since ResMed allows end-users to download their data viewer, ResScan, from their website for free. Well....they don't stop it or block it and I sure they know what is happening but the "official" stance is that ResScan is intended for the medical community only because we aren't sup...

Re: Flow Limitations ??

SenseAwake is a feature where the machine is supposed to sense that you are awake and reduce pressure to make it more comfortable instead of exhaling against a hurricane. Sounds like ramp 2.0. I wonder if it would be better to turn that off. There's no obvious problem in the data, but is the pressu...

Re: AHI variation

Do I understand correctly that your sleep nurse reduced your pressure to stop the leaks rather than helping you find a mask that will work for you and tweak it until it actually does work? And did she also tell you that you were not allowed to look at your data to see whether or not the new pressure...

Re: lazerguy

I use a ResMed Full facemask, Quattro FX. It leaks in early morning hours and disturbs my sleep. I get up & clean the cushion w/wet face cloth which sometims helps. Any advice from others w/similar masks & problems? Where does it leak? Does it slide up your nose and then start leaking? Also what pr...

Re: Flow Limitations ??

Say, is "SenseAwake" simply F&Ps euphemism for central apnea?

Re: Flow Limitations ??

Maybe someone more familiar with how F&P scores FL will have more insight. I really don't know much about those machines, but for what it's worth, "Flow limitation" usually means the tops of your waveform are somewhat rounded off. This may indicate that your airway isn't fully open. You can breathe,...

Re: Poll: How Often Do You Clean Your Tank?

I've had mine almost 2 years and I've never cleaned it. I do, however, use only distilled water, and I'm using the "hypoallergenic" filters. I also run an air cleaner in the room that works so well there is very little left for the filters on my machine to catch. Most days, I slosh the water around ...

Re: Any sleep doctors' offices who don't have financial conflict

Anyway, are there any sleep doctors who operate without financial conflicts or is that simply fantasyland thinking? if you really want an answer to that question, put your location in the topic. Then if someone in your area knows of such a doc, they'll be more likely to join the thread. I'm sure th...

Re: Length of time using mask at night

He said at least I was getting some benefit. What I forgot to ask is, after 5 hours, are you still at risk of dying in your sleep if you're not wearing the mask. Untreated apnea is more slow degeneration than sudden death, but yes, if you are already at risk for a heart attack, working your heart h...
