Only slightly OT - my thyroid is getting lower, so is AHI

When I started CPAP, I had what my endo is now pretty positive was the hyperthyroid side of subacute thyroiditis. It was also causing some major anxiety (which, um, may have been apparent by some earlier posts of mine). Interestingly, now that my Free T4 has bottomed out, and is heading toward hypo,...

Re: KINDLY RESPOND TO THIS ANONYMOUS POLL

Before I even consider kindly (or not) responding to a poll that I've been yelled at about, I'd like to know what the poll is polling regarding. What is the point? Are you polling who is overweight on a board of people who continue to chat about CPAP for years, or just this week? Why? Also, you do r...

Re: Anyone else under 40 w/ OSA?

Eh, I'm 38 and falling apart. OSA, osteoarthritis in the knees (but that's from treating them poorly, too), a DVT with a blood clotting disorder so I take blood thinners and wear compression socks daily, and now my thyroid seems to have decided to poop out after a viral infection (viral thyroiditis,...

Re: Awful Rainout Last Night

Reading this because *I* just had the same thing last night - guess the OP's weather came to visit. I don't have a heated hose ATM. I guess I should consider one, because I enjoy a cooler room most of the time? We've been in-between with weather the past few weeks, and I've been "dealing" but soon w...

Re: Low Score - Does this smell funny to you?

I don't think we have to be "off the charts" to be feeling poorly. I was at 5.5. I had a total of 5 central apneas, 3 obstructive apneas, and 31 hypopneas during my sleep study that qualified me for a sleep study, but because nearly all of that happened during REM, they calculated my REM AHI at 38, ...

Re: Home sleep study vs hospital sleep study

Effexor That may be the culprit. I take it's step-sister, Pristiq, and several of my dr's have suggested that although SSRIs are the ones that the "big" delayed REM studies have been done on, SNRIs may be to blame, as well. Not that I plan on altering my treatment any time soon, but I do like to kn...

Re: Dumb humidifier question

Actually I think this is a great humidifier question! It has been happily a little more humid here, so I haven't been running through my tiny tank the past couple of nights, but I sleep LONG hours (9ish) and it is dry here in CO. However, I'm not sure I'm up to building a new tank, so it might be a ...

Re: Resmed myAir

I may look into the wifi card down the road, 'cuz it seems cool But I don't have a problem taking the SD out and in daily - I only forgot to put it back ONCE so far, and I think that was enough to scare me straight.

Re: My centrals worries - still not feeling rested

My tidal volume is only slightly higher than yours on average and sometimes the average is around 250..most nights around 280 with maximum sometimes of 600. My tidal is high Variance!! I dig it!! When in doubt about lung issues...consult the doctor and get a little quick spirometry test to start wi...

Re: I give up!!

No, it's not that bad and you should not be spreading that idea without knowledge or experience. Fair enough -- Just what I had "heard/read" and I was honest about that. Also, it's been a long time since I was "pre-teen" so I admit my ideas of what that felt like back then may also be warped throug...

Re: My centrals worries - still not feeling rested

Ok, ONE more thing I've noticed as a trend -- although my 95% tidal volume is around 500 most nights, my weighted averages and averages are half that - closer to 250ish. So I'm breathing that shallowly on average? Isn't that a "bad" thing?

Re: I give up!!

You think getting used to cpap blows? Wait until you try the mandibular device! I had a jaw expander a pre-teen, and I've heard/read that the pain level is similar. I wish you luck.

Re: My centrals worries - still not feeling rested

So maybe I shouldn't be worried about centrals at all. My very first sleep study, the one where they called it "NOS"? I looked that info back up. I spent a good part of that night below 88% spO2, but it seems the pulmonologist thought I was just hypoventalating, without "true" apneas at all, and tha...

Re: My centrals worries - still not feeling rested

Well, it seems that whatever has been pinging my radar, must have hit the Dr, too! I just got a call from Apria (my DME) that they got a faxed Rx for an overnight home sleep study. Seems there is a question about if I need to be using supplemental O2 at night in addition to the CPAP (I was on just O...
