Re: OT:Good Calories, Bad Calories....

. . . For reasons of taste, upbringing, genetics, and other factors, the individual response to diets varies tremendously. Experiment. See what works for you. And by all means, get some exercise, too."-- http://www.health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update0904c.shtml That, right there, pretty much sums...

Re: Post Surgury CPAP Issues

I just had major ankle reconstruction surgery. Since the initial injury on February 7 and surgery on the March 9 my AHI's have been skyrocketing. I am having trouble sleeping, trying not to take too much of the pain meds, but at least I am down to 1 to 2 vicodins at bedtime to help dull the pain. D...

Re: OT:Good Calories, Bad Calories....

Another one who explains this well from a biochemical (but in layman's language) standpoint is Jon Gabriel. He uses his own history as an example. His book made a great deal of sense to me when it came out years ago, and while he's now built a minor industry out of his program, I don't grudge him th...

Re: Booger-Pillow eardrum blow-out question

If I don't use the ramp, I notice the surge of pressure and it sometimes will make my ears hurt. As long as I start out with a nice gentle ramp, my ears adjust with no problem.

Pugsy, Robysue, do you have any idea how many times I have had to yawn while reading this thread?!?

Re: A Night in Hospital with CPAP

RocketGirl I was following along after a hiatus. First the shock of the news and then the relief of seeing that your heart is not just good but provably good. Please let us know how the chest pain proves out. My brother had chest pains a few years back. They finally told him it was strained muscles...

Re: A Night in Hospital with CPAP

When I went in for the cardiac catheterization this week I did take my machine with me in case I did need to be admitted (which, thankfully, did not happen). I had asked the hospital ahead of time and they said certainly, bring it. When I checked in, they put a sticker on the case indicating that it...

Re: Probably OT: What do you hate about Low Carb eating?

What I hate about "low carb" anything is the name . It is a less-than-useless moniker because there is too much variation in what a carb really is, and that makes some people restrict healthful foods, and makes other people think they can't do "low carb" at all because of other dietary restrictions....

Re: A Night in Hospital with CPAP

A heartfelt (haha!) thank you all for the prayers and good wishes - they worked. The Nuclear Stress Test Was Wrong. Based on that test I had been informed pretty definitively that there was at least one arterial blockage, maybe more. The cardiologist who interpreted the test did say that once in a g...

A Night in Hospital with CPAP - what's next

I began this thread with an account of my unexpected sojourn last weekend in the ER and then hospital with chest pain. This week involved various pokings and proddings to find out why, and I had a cardiac stress test yesterday. I did not have a full-fledged heart attack, but I did have the precursor...

Re: memory

I have found that my memory has improved since I started cpap. I can keep a lot more things in my head, and I'm much less forgetful. Whomever told you that cpap causes memory loss had it precisely backwards!

Some musings on tornado risk... I would hope that everyone posting about how one shouldn't overreact to tornado warnings is also aware that the OP didn't ask us for our judgment on that issue. She asked for ways to ensure that she could be compliant with CPAP while getting her kids to safety. Surely...

Still, anybody that votes for the poser in chief is a goddamn brain dead libtard idiot. Too many have been brainwashed in our public schools and universities to know any damn better. Because their taught by Anti-American commie libtard unethical bastards, and that's a fact and I don't care who does...

'Nother thought - this sentence caught my eye in your detailed post in your other thread: Having water in the humidifier doesn't seem to affect anything for me I am wondering if your humidifier settings are as they should be. I don't use the ResMed machines so I don't know how the humidity and warmt...

Re: Covering the mask vent

Cait, this is great, I was away from my computer most of the day but I see you have given lots of details. That's really helpful. You do have a lot on your plate, but it seems to me that the areas to focus on first are 1) the air blowing into your eyes; and 2) the feeling of cold and 3) dampness tha...
