Re: Help! Do I set Respironics performance hose to standard or slimline?
Thanks Pugsy! Soaking a bit to remove any mfg gunk. I get congested at the whiff of anything unusual. The performance hose is drying now using my ancient Escape CPAP. I like the 6'6" original hoses but today's are just 6', tho ResMed assures me the heated hose is 6'6" and can just be used as a std h...

Help! Do I set Respironics performance hose to standard or slimline?
Think I have hose leak, both are from 2007 when I became a hosehead LOL. Leak high, AHI high for me -- changed all mask parts, that leaves the hose.
Can I soak the heated hose for my S9? I have never used it.

Re: New Battery and Amp-Hour Data
...Basically it boils down to nightly usage (hours, ampHours, wattHours&Voltages, or anything else.... but always including the machine type and its voltage "requirements")... I am clueless about electrical stuff, likely from getting shocked several times that freaked me out as a child, once as a to...

Re: Has your quality of life improved much after using CPAP machines?
Improved in every single way I can think of. I am rated as severe. Improvements started by 3rd week. No longer feeling like the walking dead, I noticed birds singing, sunshine and how good it felt, and I was smiling again. My sense of humor returned. No more unexpectedly falling asleep. No waking up...

Re: Back pain from new CPAP use??
I’ve been on CPAP for a year now ever since I’ve been on it I’ve had severe lower back pain... I had intense pain in lower back starting a year or so into my hosehood  . I could not tolerate single pressure and got an APAP machine setting maximum exhale relief. Sleep doc, good guy, advised on ...

Re: THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE
I've been using the Innomed Hybrid for years now and I have a collection of unused pillows & cushions. I hate to throw them out. Maybe somebody here will swap with me for the sizes I use (preferred), or just take them outright for the USPS cost of shipping. The packaging has, of course, been opened...

Re: SARS-COV-2 PSA (from a chemist)
Things to consider... Being an enveloped virus (outer membrane is fatty acids), covid-19 is vulnerable to monolaurin created from one of the oils in coconut (it's also in mother's milk protecting newborns) literally pokes holes in that membrane allowing the contents to leak out thus killing that vir...

Loved it! Over the past 2 years, I have developed cirrcadian rhythm disorder delayed sleep onset (like 4-6 AM    ), the whole segment on slow wave sleep with decreased amplitude as we age and the benefit of the binaural beats is something I am going to explore. I have already be...

Thanks for the suggestion, Zonker. I actually took turmeric for years because it was recommended for my issues with CFS/ME. Sadly I also have a lot of issues with allergies/food allergies and I can't take it anymore because I seem to be allergic to it. Hey, Julie! Nice to see you again. Hope you ar...

Re: Question for the Wisdom of the Group on Power Failures
In the severe category and now without the blood chemistry of someone living at a high altitude, I am quite sure my blood oxygen levels would plummet without being able to run my APAP. Having several short (few hrs) power outages recently has reminded me that I want to replace my aging/not holding a...

Wow, what a collection of issues! "elevated hemocrit/hemoglobin" is common for hoseheads who are untreated or inadequately treated; it normalizes with optimized treatment -- it's your body's attempt to provide more oxygen as a reaction to the drops in oxygen during apneic events (people living at hi...

I have chronic year-round nasal congestion, vasomotor rhinitis, along with year-round allergies. Check out my mask (click on it in my signature), the first of the hybrid-style full-face masks. I use Ocean saline in the can because the squeeze bottle doesn't provide enough pressure to wash nose & sin...

Try layering some pillows to create a wedge to raise head. Try Xclear spray.
